March is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene month.

Rotary is committed to providing opportunities for communities.
Clean water, sanitation and good hygiene is a human right. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives.

We don’t just build wells and walk away. Rotary members integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education projects. When children learn about disease transmission and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. And they can take those lessons home to their families, expanding our impact.

The beginning of March was hectic but very rewarding with our second year hosting the Art show on the Labour Day long weekend opposite the Begonia Festival.
Many thanks to my co-leads Michelle and Deb who put in many long hours to make this more successful than last. With an increase of artist entries from far and wide, interactive events for both children & adults and our wonderful team of volunteers, without who, none of the event would be possible.
Many thanks to Jim & Ray from the Community Care Centre, the members of Buninyong Lions, our friends of Rotary, our superb volunteers hanging the many artworks, our artists Lisa who was wonderful with Deb managing the creative children’s sessions and Vicki, managing the Junior schools art competition and Vino & Van Gogh. Many thanks also to the set up & pack up teams for lugging heavy items and doing whatever had to be done.

Artist, Jon Lam won the ‘People’s choice award’ with a misty impression of the Town Hall, Sturt St and will be presented with a certificate and small gift at a later meeting.

It is with sadness we say farewell to members Heather who is relocating to Echuca and our President Elect and current Secretary, Lee- Anne to Wodonga.
These members will be missed. Nominations are welcome to fill the void.

March also keeps our catering committee busy with BBQs for Bunnings, Integra and Commerce Ballarat as well as Eat Up sandwich making and delivery.

Art Festival Photo Collages

As mentioned by Jill, it was all hands on deck for the 2026 Festival of Art, with a huge input from many people over the week to make it all happen.

Lucas Block Party

Thanks to Integra for inviting us to be part of the Lucas Block Party - showcasing the biggest collection of display homes in Ballarat, plus lots of fun activities for kids and families.
Our talented team had a very successful day and enjoyed meeting more members of our local community.

How many Rotarians does it take?

To set up and take down a big marquee? - 6
To erect flags and signs? - 2
To stage a big event like the Festival of Art? - well how long is a piece of string?? As many Rotarians, Friends of Rotary, family, neighbours and colleagues as we can find!
Thanks to all.
Please support these amazing organisations who have all assisted us in some way. Without them, our reach would be smaller and projects less impactful..
