Altona City Rotary eBulletin: 2  Dec 2019

From the President

Last night’s speaker Tom was as I said in my closings comments very engaging. We have many speakers that are interesting but don’t grab you the way Tom did.

Getting us to get off our bums and mover around and think about which group we should be in and how we should evaluate the questions he was asking gave us all a new way to look at ourselves. I hope you all enjoyed and found it as stimulating as I did. John thank for bringing Tom to us.

As you all will remember we have one week left to book and PAY for our Christmas function. For the members that don’t know, the club has to book a number of people, this is based on your booking numbers and the club has to pay for the numbers we book. If a member books and doesn’t turn up or PAY we will invoice you for the number you booked. It is unfair to expect the other members to pick up the cost of your booking and failure to make the payment prior to the event.

Frank Landells and Bryan Goodwin are able to take your booking . The flyer in last week’s bulletin give Banking Details some you can PAY from your favourite chair at home. Please help this process run smoothly.

Take care stay safe.
Regards
Ray

Vale - Jack Davidson

On Thursday the 14th of November this year, club stalwart Jack Davidson passed away after an illness.  Jack was a highly respected and valuable member of the Altona City Rotary Club over his 26 years as a Rotarian,  His personal achievements are recognised through a Paul Harris Fellowship and as a Director of Community Services within the club.

One of Jack's passions was to restore old bicycles that he collected or were donated to him and through hard work, repair them.  They would then be donated to the Salvation Army to find new owners.  In all, approximately 60 bicycles were restored by Jack and found a new life with new owners.  The club extends its deepest condolences and support to Jack's wife Jan, family and friends.

We will miss you Jack,
