President's Notes
Dear Members,

Last nights meeting was not very well supported, only 10 members and one guest. Our guest speaker Sister Jean Dwyer has spoken to us before and is always interesting. She has been a tireless worker for the causes her group fosters. I hope we are able to offer her some financial support. This remarkable lady is ageing very well and still working long hours 7 days a week.

Our new secretary has got his hands on the levers and has things under control but he will still need all of us to offer help when we can. As this is the start of the new Rotary year it’s time to pay our club dues, this year they are $330.00.

There are payment options available. It is important that we all make an effort to make payments quickly as the club is required to pay our RI and District dues by the end of July.

Please make a note in your diaries for the 7th October for the DG Visit, this will be a partners event. I would ask that all members of our management committee make time to meet with the DG prior to our meeting on the day of his official visit.

I will confirm the timing once the DG has told he is comfortable with my arrangements.

Have a good week, see you all next Monday

Regards

Ray

Sister Jeanne Dwyer - Joseph's Corner
The club received a sobering and informative presentation from Sr Jean Dwyer of Josephs Corner about the work they do for families affected by drug and alcohol addiction.  Sr Dwyer is a tireless worker for the organisation dealing with the many families in the western suburbs and in fact all over Melbourne cope with addictions and the social issues created by these addictions.    Her centre relies entirely on donations and goodwill of the public to function and to hire top class counsellors for the much needed assistance they can provide to families.  The club has vowed to assist Joseph’s Corner in any way they can.  If you would like to know further you can visit their website at  www.josephscorner.org.au

Bay Running on the Bellarine Express...
From low gear leaving Docklands at 5 knots, the Port Phillip Bay crossing at an effortless 32 knots (into a howling headwind) was exhilarating for those who wanted some sea air... Melbourne is just visible in the distance.

Bruce and Shirl are sitting in the living room.
Bruce says, "Just so you know Shirl, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle.
If that ever happens, just pull the plug."
Shirl gets up, unplugs the TV and throws out all the beer.
