Altona City Rotary eBulletin: 17 Mar 2020

President's Message
There were 11 members at last nights meeting.
We conducted a board meeting as we just had enough of the management team present .
The key points were that we go a head with the Kevin Sheedy function.
That we continue to have regular Monday meeting until there is a stronger need to change.
The move to change meetings to EOW (every other week) is considered to be not required as there is no rigid attendance required - members can come when ever it suits them.
The club has agreed to subscribe and pay for a copy of Rotary Down Under to be mailed to Kevin Skehan. The members that visited Kevin last week all felt it would be a fitting gift for a Rotarian with 44 years of service who has lots of time to fill in each day and is not able to attend many meetings.
The management team will continue to monitor the government and health services report and guidance re the Coronavirus and advise members of changes we need to make to meetings and functions.
Take care of your health stay safe.
Yours in Rotary
From the Secretary
As you know, all efforts are being made to reduce the outbreak of the Corona Virus (COVID 19).  The president and management team have decided to continue to meet at Kooringal Golf Course, but there are a few instructions we need to follow to help prevent further cases of the virus.

  • Guests currently under self-quarantine do not attend
  • Anyone who has recently travelled or been in direct contact with those who have travelled do not attend
  • Anyone showing symptoms & still awaiting test results do not attend
  • All guests follow the current advice from health experts on maintaining good hygiene
  • No more than 200 guests to be invited.
The following medical advice is provided as well.

Vocational Visit and Presentation - 12 March at Mercy Place Werribee
This visit was attended by five club members and Kevin Skehan and his wife Phyllis were excited that we came to visit them both.   We were cordially welcomed by the manager of the facility Jim who gave us an insight into the day to day challenges of running an Aged Care Facility.
We took the opportunity to give Kevin his PHF 5 sapphire pin as recognition of his 40 plus years service to Rotary and the community.   We were treated to a yummy afternoon tea afterwards and exchanged some interesting stories.
