Zoos Victoria’s commitment to international wildlife conservation
Zoos Victoria is a zoo-based conservation organisation with a vision to secure a future rich in wildlife. We have a major emphasis on threatened species in south-east Australia, Victoria in the main, but we also work with partners to protect priority threatened species in other countries.
Chris Banks is ZV’s Manager of International Conservation and has worked in zoos since 1969.
Using selected examples, he will profile the organisation’s six international conservation partnerships in Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Uganda, Rwanda, Vietnam and French Polynesia; two sister zoos in PNG and Uganda; and the annual grants program. Measurable benefits to wildlife and people are a significant focus for all these relationships.”
