Environmental Sustainability
Aug 24, 2020 7:00 pm
Fabienne Nichola and John McCaskill have been appointed as joint Chairs for Environment and Sustainability in District 9800. Their Committee's purpose is to assist clubs to initiate or further develop environmental sustainability projects and activities.
Supporting the Environment is now Rotary's unique seventh area of focus, which are categories of service activities supported by global grants. Grant applications for Environmental Sustainability projects will be accepted beginning 1 July 2021.
The Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) has been instrumental in raising awareness and supporting clubs and inspiring action. "Rotarians for Bees" is an example of an ESRAG project working on solutions to address the decline in bee populations as a consequence of ecosystem degradation ultimately threatening our food supply.

"Rotary Club Innovations"
Aug 31, 2020 7:00 pm
The current health crisis has caused a pause in most Rotary club activities. One of the things we can do during this period is to review how the club has been operating and what activities should take place once we can resume projects and associated fund raising.
The needs in our community are growing and we need more members and volunteers, working together to help our communities locally, nationally and internationally.
Find out Rotary is changing to better serve in Australia as we adapt for the next 100 years. Our District Membership Chair Peter Frueh will share what innovations clubs are making across Australia and New Zealand.
Join us for a Zoom Meeting- Visitors Welcome https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3995304276 Meeting ID: 399 530 4276 |

"Update on end Trachoma Project"
Nov 23, 2020 7:00 pm
Lien Trinh has worked in the public health sector as an eye care professional for over 15 years, and is D9800's inaugural Global Grant scholar. Shortly after finishing her Public Health degree in London, she returned to Australia to work with Indigenous Eye Health (University of Melbourne) and Rotary, who have committed to the elimination of the blinding eye disease, trachoma, from Australia by 2020. The COVID19 pandemic has both boosted and hindered progress in this space, and Lien will update us on the great work done by the Rotary Districts of Australia so far, and how we might be able to contribute in our own way. Lien is also the President of the Provisional Club of Rotary Northside. |
