In August 2013, we held our introductory meeting and things took off from there. We received our charter effective 21 February 2014, marking the official birth of the  Chiang Mai International Rotary Club.  Since then we have gone through some interesting changes, learned many lessons and most importantly done a lot of good!  Please join us as we celebrate our first year!

On Saturday 21 February 2014 we will have an informal birthday party at Tawan's Corner Bar & Bistro.  We'll begin around 7:00 p.m.  We are hoping to have one pleasant surprise event which will take a few minutes. Other than that the evening is going to be very unstructured. Please know that food and drinks can be ordered and will be served.  Each member and guest is responsible for his / her own bill.

Hope to see you there!!
On 27 January, Chiang Mai International Rotary Club hosted a community event at which Dr. Cynthia Maung, the founder of the Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot was the featured speaker. Dr. Cynthia spoke about the status of the clinic, the situation along the border and on going efforts to improve health care. Students from the Burma Study Center and Chiang Mai University were sponsored by individual members of CMIRC.  Some 35 students from BEAM were able to attend due to the generosity of the Chiang Mai Expats Club.

The event was a huge success raising ฿104,600 baht for the clinic.

Mae Tao Clinic Trip - March 9 - March 11, 2015:
Due to the high level of interest CMIRC is coordinating a trip to Mae Tao Clinic.  The group will depart Chiang Mai on Monday March 9th and return on Wednesday March 11th.  This self funded trip is open to the public.  Travel will be arranged and hotel reservations will be made by CMIRC.  Individuals will be responsible for their own expenses.   For more information please contact President Elect Joe Evans at 085-714-2550.
On 10 February District Govenor Dr. Anusorn Kunanusorn visited Chiang Mai International Rotary Club.

Before the meeting, President Roger and other members gave Dr Anusorn a briefing of our clubs activities during the past year.

When the District Governor addressed the club he told the story of the gentleman who started the Rotary Club of Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai Province.  This man, afflicted with polio some 50 years ago, went door to door finding support for this Rotary Start Up. We have all been invited to attend the club's installation.
