Last Monday saw Club members have a vocational visit to St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Forrest, courtesy of Club member and Church Minister, Rev David Campbell.

Rotarians Natalie and Barbara enjoyed the visit.

Ready for the next sermon?
The Church has a very interesting history and when the Church was built in the 1930's people form across Australia contributed to the cause. Club members were treated to a tour of the Church and heard about the beginnings of the Church up until the current day. The leadlight windows all tell a story and and the woodwork within the Church is some of the best in the country.

There is a also a Chapel for the fallen and this smaller area is still used for some services. Of special interest was that prior to the opening of the Australian War Memorial, the Church would hold an ANZAC Day Service from the small outdoor pulpit and attendees would gather on the lawn below. The Church still holds a service between the Dawn Service and the March on ANZAC Day each year.

Preparing the next Sermon by the Pulpit?

A highlight for some was the opportunity to ring the Church bells at the end of the tour.

All attendees were treated to a special two course lunch following the tour and special thanks to the ladies auxiliary for looking after us so well.

The Church is open for tours on Wednesdays and if you haven't been before, it's well worth a visit. Most people visit the great cathedrals, churches and temples, etc., on overseas holidays. We sometimes forget there are many hidden gems here in our own city to explore.

Special thanks to Rev Campbell, our tour guides, ladies auxiliary and Club Vocational Director, Alison, for arranging the visit.
