Gordon Sherwin and Berny Nymeyer, from the Endowment Fund Advisory Committee, provided us with an informative presentation highlighting the various funds, which total over $1.6 million, being managed by the committee and its partners at RBC Dominion Securities. These investment accounts have had great returns due to the hard work performed, without charge or profit, by Berny and his team, which includes Joseph Frank.

The success of these funds has allowed the percentage used for scholarships to be increased along with an increase in the amount given, from $1000 to $1200 per year for 4 years, per student at each of the three Stratford high schools. Scholarships from these funds total $46,000 annually.

Paul Roulston discussing the Five year Strategic Plan

Paul Roulston updated us on the Club's five year strategic plan and objectives. Several objectives were geared toward supporting the youth in our community, including the creation of a Youth Committee to focus on less advantaged youth in need. In addition, increased cooperation as well as more active mentoring with Interact and Rotaract clubs are needed in order to promote greater participation, collaboration and awareness of Rotary's activities and goals. Expanded scholarship support to include trades and apprenticeship programs, in addition to continued assistance for the Northern Student Sponsorship program, will also be promoted.

Ways in which greater coordination and collaboration with other service clubs, in order to better tackle various needs in the community, will be identified. Every committee is encouraged to reach out to other organizations, both to deepen the impact in the community and to support these other organizations.

The successful Aquabox program is expecting to double in size by 2020. There will be increased promotion of this vital program outside Rotary  through appearances at conferences, increased social media and collaboration with Global Medic's communications outreach.
