Mark Your Calendars for April 9, 2022 for Rotary Fest!! Due to Covid, Rotary Fest had been canceled in 2019 and 2020. The Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club is so excited to FINALLY be able to celebrate our 25th Rotary Fest Anniversary. The proceeds from the event will go to local non-profits. Join us for a fantastic evening!
Welcome to the Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club
Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Achieved the Honor of the Rotary Citation in 2020
Jeremy Untz, President of the Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club presents the Rotary International Citation to Court Sand, 2019-2020 Club President. This is major accomplishment for the Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club which was led by Margaret Breisch. Very few clubs receive this citation. Congratulations Sunrise Rotarians!!!!!
Rotary Fest 2020 Quilt winner is Donna Hedlund of Boyceville being presented by Joan Harris, the
Quilt Coordinator for the Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club.
Our Rotary Fest committee decided to have the 2020 Quilt Drawing in August of 2020 as many of our great donors had already purchased over $950 in tickets for it. The winner was "Donna Hedlund" of Boyceville. We have a new quilt being prepared for our 2021 Rotary Fest (April 17, 2021) and those tickets will be on sale later this fall. Thank you for all of your support for the local food pantries. The funds collected are being distributed to Stepping Stones and West Cap Food Pantry in Boyceville. Congratulations to Donna!!!!!
On Friday, May 22nd, Josh Gibson and several other Chippewa Valley Rotarians assisted the
Feed My People staff in Eau Claire. This was a "pop-up" food bank held near Carson Park.
Josh's effort, along with the other volunteers resulted in 211 families being supported with
boxes of food during this time of covid-19. Thanks Josh; you are a great example for Rotary!
Work continues on our Community for Vets project to add an additional bedroom. This past Monday
found Gus Myran painting the exterior siding before installation. Electrical work is completed and
this project should be completed in about 10 days. That's good because the house manager already
has a veteran wanting to rent the completed room. Thanks Gus!
President-elect Jeremy Untz presented a check for $2,000 from our club foundation to Katherine Dutton,
the director of Stepping Stones. That organization is seeing a huge increase in the number of city and county
residents needing access to lower priced food. Katherine was most pleased to receive the check and assured
us that it will go a long way to help many in our community. Thanks, Jeremy.
We were pleased to have club members Steve Faulhaber & Larry Jess present a lesson in beekeeping at our meeting on Feb. 6, 2020. They are hobbiests
and have been at it for several years. Actually, Larry was interested MANY years ago, but only got serious more recently. They explained the equipment
needed and more importantly, how bees function and how to keep them happy and healthy. Very interesting. Thanks to both of them for the great
program!

Heather & Bethany visited with members of Club Rotario Olanchito during their week in Honduras.
They had traveled to Honduras to check on the progress of their mission with Pink Box Purpose. While a smaller
Rotary club, the members (14) in Olanchito are very involved with outreach into their local community.
Heather presented the Olanchito club with a Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club banner. Way to go, ladies!
This morning, the Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club presented Earl Wildenburg and the staff of Community for Veterans Home with a check for $10,000. Helping present the check are Assistant District Governor Mike Kloss, District Governor-nominee Karen Herbert, Past President Mike Shaide and Millie Hauge. Community for Veterans Home was the recipient of Rotary Fest 2019.
The Community for Veterans Home provides Veterans, recovering and incarcerated people who are transitioning back into the community from a controlled and/or traumatic situation. They will have the opportunity to live in a sober environment with other men and women in recovery and work a personal transition plan of their choosing as they transition back into the community.
Josh Bergmann, owner of Season's Harvest presents a check for $814 to Katherine Dutton,
Director of Stepping Stones of Dunn County. Josh hosted a "Wine & Roses" tasting/shopping
event on May 16th to support Stepping Stone's effort in our community. Pictured with them
is Jeremy Untz, our Rotary Club member who helped coordinate the event.
Menomonie Chief of Police Eric Atkinson discussed the continuing meth problem in the city and the
human & financial cost to all. The city is embarking on a new approach to combat the problem. He
spoke at our May 23rd meeting; thanks Chief.
Josh Bergman describes the operation of an automated planting machine that is part of his business,
Season's Harvest Nursery. This automation increases the production of his plant inventory and also
allows him to control several other aspects which results in a better and more uniform crop.
Josh Bergman, owner of Season's Harvest Nursery describes the controlled watering and fertilizing system used to keep
his plant inventory healthy and blooming. Systems such as this help control costs and provide a better, stronger plant
for his customers. Our club enjoyed a tour of his business on May 16th after having breakfast on site.
The annual highway cleanup project along County Road D was completed Saturday, May 4th. Those helping were Steve Machesky, Jeremy Untz, Aiden Untz (Jeremy's son), Courtney Sand, Jim Peterson, Mike Shaide, Tom and Joan Harris (not pictured). The weather was great and the project completed in an hour and a half. Thanks to all!
Barb Anderson of PeaceWork Quilts and Joan Harris of the Sunrise Rotary Club are
presenting a check for $1,100 to Katherine Dutton of Stepping Stones; the result
of ticket sales for the 2019 Quilt from the Rotary Fest. The PeaceWork Quilters
donate the quilt each year and Stepping Stones sells the tickets for it. Great Job to all.
As the director of Main Street Menomonie, Dustyn is charged with helping business owners in downtown create ways to attract people/customers to those in the historic district. Dustyn is the man for this task-he speaks well, loves Menomonie and enjoys trying to improve the downtown area for all of us. Thanks, Dustyn for a great talk.
Bob Rosendahl and Tom Harris did very well selling chances for the drawings. This year Tom had two hand guns, one rifle and a cross bow to
interested folks at Rotary Fest.
