President's Message: A Roll of the Dice
If you were at Greenbriar on Saturday night, you got to see Rotary in action.  I do not mean the dice or cards, the chips or prizes, the food or ... beverages.  I mean the team approach that we take to tackle a problem.  Put a few hundred people in a room, and it takes a lot of people working hard for months in advance to ensure that the event goes off well----safe, fun, and profitable.
Our club just ran one of the very best Rotary events I have ever attended; in fact, one of the best fundraisers I have ever attended, Rotary or otherwise.  The feedback was resoundingly positive.  So a heartfelt THANK YOU to the folks who made this event so successful----you guys did an amazing job.
Also in the last week, I submitted the paperwork for our 2019-20 District Grant.  We are looking to buy 2 new AEDs for the Barnegat PD as well as purchasing the protective cases for the existing AEDs they have.  The fundraising that we do has great purpose.  For some of the folks at Casino Night last weekend, it was really just about a night out having fun.  For me, it was all about what that fundraiser means for our club to be able to help more people.
I want to take a moment to remind all of us that Rotary Clubs everywhere do some amazing things.  We are a young club, just coming in to our own.  But there are examples around the world of what a small group of Rotarians has been able to accomplish.  Like them, we too could accomplish many great things if we put our minds to it.  Did you know that Easter Seals and ShelterBox grew out of Rotary?  (And did you know that I wrote this before we just got the District e-mail about EasterSeals?!)  Did you know that Rotary's plan to eradicate polio started as a simple dream to tackle a big problem?
We welcome your ideas.  We might just roll the dice to see what we can do to help.

Congratulations on everyone for all the hard work put into last weekend's event! I think everyone can agree that it was a success. Here are a few photos from the night
