DISTRICT CONFERENCE OCTOBER 14-16
 
imageRegistration for the 2021 Rotary District 5610 Conference is now open. The event is free to all Rotarians and will include breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and a chance to win cash prizes that will directly benefit your club. Dates are October 14 to 16 in Deadwood, SD at the Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort. Along with the conference events there are plenty of opportunities for the non-Rotarians in your family to enjoy the beautiful Black Hills.  If you register for the conference by August 20 you just might win a two-night stay at Cadillac Jack’s!

FOOTBALL BOOK FUNDRAISER - GET YOUR STUBS AND MONEY IN BY SEPTEMBER 12
We have two more weeks to sell football books and all of you have done a fantastic job!!  We decided to print 100 more books.  So if you want more books to sell, let Cathy Q know.  Please be thinking about getting your stubs and money together and turned in at the meetings, at Print Mark-et, or give one of us a call (Q:  381-0661 or Linda:  431-2886).   We would love to get everything in by September 12th or 13th (first Monday Night Game).  Thanks again for selling your books!  
 
 
STORY BOOK ISLAND INFO/DATES
United Way Day of Caring is September 8th.  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  We will be replacing wood chips, painting, staining, cleaning figures… any and all help is appreciated. The day will go from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If anyone can donate some time, please reach out to Jackie at the park.
 
Adult Fun Night (September 18th  4:00pm - 9:00pm)  
 
Last Adult Fun night raised about $10,000 and we had close to 700 visitors. We’re hoping this one is bigger and better. To make that happen we need your help! Please spread the word to your friends and family and share the Facebook posts as often as you can.
 
 
Safe & Sweet Trick or Treat October 30  2pm - 9 pm 
We are accepting donations for candy. We’re hoping to get about 140,000 pieces donated.  Pre-sale tickets $3 per person are now available for 2 different time slots:  2pm-5pm or 6pm-9pm.  Pre Sale tickets are on sale until October 20th! 
White Clay Makerspace Upcoming Dates
Several upcoming dates to keep in mind for the District Global Grant located near Pine Ridge Reservation:    work day scheduled for Saturday, September 4th and Grand Opening scheduled for Sunday, October 17th. See flyer for Grand Opening in download files.   For additional information and times for either of these events, please contact Linda Peterson (Linda4rotary@me.com).  A booth will be set up at the District Conference and Raffle tickets will be available for a beautiful quilt. 
Recent Social Events
Several members gathered for a club social at Jolly Lane Garden Bar July 28th.   Fun was had by all -- including a rooster who wanted to join in!  Thanks Dana and Heidi for organizing.
 
 
40 folks from Rushmore Rotary and Rapid City Rotary enjoyed a beautiful evening at the home of the Petersons to celebrate Rapid City Rotary for 100 years! Now there are 4 DGs from Rushmore club:  Doug Lind (current), Pat Sutliff, Linda Peterson, and George Twitero.

Member Shout Out

Our own Linda Rabe, former President of the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce, recently presented Carrie Bond with the Linda Rabe Women in Leadership Scholarship.  This scholarship will be used for the inaugural Elevate Leadership Institute set to begin September 9. By the end of the program an ELI graduate will advance their natural desire to serve, engage, lead, and inspire others to join them to achieve even greater success. Congratulations Linda for this well deserved recognition of leadership and passing it on! 

 

COMMUNITY ACTION MONTHLY VOLUNTEERING
The Community Action Committee has organized a monthly volunteer opportunity for Feeding South Dakota on the third Tuesday of each month from 4:30pm - 6:00 pm.  We need between 12-15 members each month.    If you are interested in volunteering please let Dave Dolan or Todd Hyroniumus put you on the list. We will be helping pack food boxes for the mobile distribution and/or the backpack programFeeding South Dakota is located at 1111 N. Creek Drive.
