Australian exchange visitors arrive June 10th.  Several Rotarians have offered to host our guests.  The membership will get to meet them on June 11th at our regular meeting.  A potluck at Storybook Island has also been planned for June 11, 5:30 pm.  Bring a dish to share (MEXICAN Theme).Hope to see you all there.  Thank you to Jennifer Rollins for coordination.  They intend to visit the Badlands, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and tour the President's statues downtown Rapid City.

Rotary  International Conference
Gene Bilodeau attended the Rotary International Conference in Hamburg!  We will be anxious to hear about all the great ideas that come from this conference.

Storybook Island Carousel House Ribbon Cutting
Rotarians joined in the celebration of the new carousel house at Storybook Island in May 2019.  Rushmore Rotary pledged $50,000 from sales of Football Books. The Carousel House was constructed at a budget of over $300,000.   The Carousel is one of five historic (formerly traveling) carousels in the US created by Allan Herschell.  The Carousel House is a great addition to the park and will keep the carousel covered and operating year-round.  Thank you to Rotarians Dana Foreman and Janet Kahler for their efforts on this project as well as  local contractors who donated labor and to Connie LeZotte and the SBI staff for all their hard work.

Membership Update
Congratulations to Terri Davis on completing her membership into Rotary.
Membership drive contest deadline is July 1 so make sure you encourage visitors to Rotary in June.
The transition party for President has been set for June 24 at  5:30 pm at West Hills Village.  A big thank you to Darla Crown and welcoming Gene Bilodeau.  We will also be giving a sendoff to Elo, our Exchange Student.

Highway Cleanup
Rushmore Rotarians gathered on a cloudy and cool Saturday in May to conduct cleanup on Highway 16 Cleanup  We had a great crew and completed the project in under an hour -- followed by lunch.  Thanks for all who participated.
