Last Tuesday we had the combined meeting for DG visit (David Jones) with Strathalbyn club.

Thank you to Craig for hosting the event & providing a delicious meal catered by one of your members.13 Rotarians from the Goolwa Club attended.

Satellite Club update – As a fundraiser, the committee has decided to sell some wines. We have studiously selected a red wine - cab/shiraz, an award winning white – A Clare Valley Watervale Riesling & some Adelaide Hills bubbles.

Hay to Hawker

The Hay was delivered to Hawker on Friday 25 September.

The three trailer Road train picked up 87 tonnes of large bales of hay from Jamestown and was unloaded in Hawker at the Flinders Ranges Council depot.

The delivery was co-ordinated by Mal and Val Hansen from the Rotary Club of Campbelltown and financially supported by the Rotary Clubs of Burnside, Campbelltown, Goolwa and Morialta. The funds have been provided by the RAWCS SA Rotary Districts Drought Relief project.

About 35 pastoralists were provided for by the members of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown with egg and bacon sandwiches and coffee and a sausage sizzle when they came to pick up the allocated load of hay.

This gave the pastoralists a much needed opportunity to discuss their situation with others for their well-being.

There has been a large downfall of rain in the last couple of weeks and most of it ran down the creeks causing some flooding, however they have had follow-up light rain which will help the grass to germinate.

The hay delivery was most appreciated by the Pastoralists and will keep their breeding stock alive.

We are collecting the names and addresses of the hay recipients so that we can put them on a spreadsheet for RAWCS to send out a $500 gift card to each eligible family.

The money came from the Federal Government into the RAWCS Drought relief project.

Averil Day - The One and All

On Sunday September

29, we went to see the students off on their 5 day Rotary Youth Development Voyage. The ship left from Port Adelaide.

The student we sponsored was Henry, one of 4 from Kangaroo island and one of 20 on the voyage.

Averil also met David Binks from the Rotary Club of Glenelg, who was instrumental in setting up the One and All Rotary Youth Development Voyages. Trevor Gill and James Hardy have written a biography of David, titled "Casting off Tradition". The book costs $40, with $17 going to Rotary.

Roger - GAPE

The GAPE committee met this afternoon to discuss how we go forward with the exhibition in April.

Di Keach - Open Garden

We have a licence to sell wine.

Can people think about what they would like to do for the Open Garden and let Di know.

If anyone would like to bring seedlings or plants to sell, or any other produce, that would be wonderful.

Karen - Wheelbarrow raffle

Karen is organising a wheelbarrow raffle, Each member is to donate something for the raffle. Details will be forthcoming.

Tony McWhinney - Garage sale.

Next weekend (4th and 5the of October) there will be a garage sale at Tony's place to raise funds for International.

Guest Speaker - John Rix

John is an insurance

broker by trade and is the Insurance Officer for the District.

He now looks after the insurance needs of 82 clubs. Rotary provides a great insurance cover at $38 per member.

Travel insurance is covered when travelling to any Rotary event.

For any event we hold, we must do Risk Management. All events or projects are covered, providing we submit the required form and notify John.

Wendy thanked everyone for attending and hoped that they all enjoyed themselves.
