Meeting 1524 April 27, 2020

Andy opened the online meeting at 6:45pm.
The meeting was joined by Duncan Norris, Greg Cassell, Roger Shelden, Alan Williams, Jim & Nanette Davis and Julie Payne.
Everyone has been doing gardening and/or painting
Several people tried to join the meeting unsuccessfully, including Janet Tapping, Noeline Biermann, Tony McWhinney and Di Keach.
Alan asked Andy if he could fix the battery in the Rotary laptop he uses for the clock.
Andy said he order a replacement battery.
Alan williams - The Rotary Clock
The clock housing is with Sign Concepts. Alan has taken the 2 clock faces to Southern Signs at Victor Harbour. Alan has sent an image to them with the colours, Rotary gold on a white background. Alan is now waiting for a cost estimate. Hopefully we can install the clock into the new tower before it is put in place, which Greg estimates will be in about 2 weeks time.
Julie has not yet seen a bill from Fleurieu Glass & Paint for the sandblasting and painting of the clock housing, which will be $200. There will a small additional cost ft the signwriter.
Julie is now working full time at the Council.
Nan, who is now home, thanked everyone for the flowers she received in hospital.
Roger informed us that he had not yet decided where to go for Easter, the lounge or the bedroom.
Andy shared a joke, which went as follows:
Did you here the one about three pieces of string who went into a bar.
They sat down at a table and one of them said "guys we've got to have a drink".
"who's going to go up to the bar and ask for a beer?"
One of them eventually says "I'll go."
So he goes up to the bar and says to the barman "Three beers please barman.".
The barman says "You're a piece of string aren't you?"
The piece of sting says "Yes."
The barman says "We don't serve pieces of string here. On your way."
The piece of string goes back to the table, all dejected and says 'He says they don't serve pieces of string."
One of the other pieces of string says "I'll go."
So off he goes, and asks the barman the same thing. The barman says "I just told your mate we don't serve pieces of string, On your way!"
So the second piece of string goes back to the table and says "Sorry guys, he told me the same thing. What are we going to do now?"
After a few minutes, the third piece of string says "I've got an idea!"
So he stands up, roughs up his hair, so it's all mussed up and them ties himself into a knot.
He then goes up to the bar and says to the barman "Three beers please!"
The barman says "I've told your 2 mates we don't serve pieces of string. You're a piece of string aren't you?"
The piece of string answers "I'm a frayed knot!"
Well it got a few laughs.

Congratulations to you all on keeping safe and busy. We have to hope that we can get back to regular meetings before too long.
Hopefully on Monday night we can have a successful Zoom meeting. So I hope to see many faces then.
Keep safe and healthy.

Karen and Max celebrated their wedding anniversary and Max's birthday on the 17th of April. Coincidentally, Andy and Alice celebrated their wedding anniversary on the same day, which was also Andy's birthday.
