Meeting 1652 – Fellowship, Fun & a Wonderful Surprise
Meeting 1652 of the Rotary Club of Goolwa was a truly special evening as we welcomed 23 members from the Rotary Club of St Peters to join us at the Goolwa Bowls Club.
From the moment everyone arrived, there was a wonderful buzz in the room. Our Area Group Leader, Linda Sweeny, joined us for dinner and commented on how warm and welcoming the vibe of our club felt - something we can all be very proud of.
Sergeant duties were expertly handled by Di Keach, who did a marvellous job keeping us entertained and on our toes. Assisting her was Theresa, who confidently delivered her very first invocation - well done!
We enjoyed delicious homemade pizzas followed by ice creams for dessert, and fellowship flowed freely throughout the evening. A lively quiz added to the fun, with chocolates up for grabs - congratulations to Sue Porter, who claimed victory on the night!
The biggest surprise of all came when St Peters President, Wendy G, presented Di with a cheque for $1,000 from their club to ours. The look of surprise in the photo says it all! It was an incredibly generous gesture and a beautiful example of Rotary fellowship in action.
Di ran a lovely auction of some wonderful baskets and the Environment team also had their wares for sale! Great money was raised to go towards RCP.
A wonderful night was had by all. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it such a memorable evening.
A very well-deserved donation to our hard working Environment team by St Peters President Wendy G — and Di’s priceless, completely shocked expression says it all! A $1,000 donation from the Rotary Club of St Peters was certainly not expected, but very gratefully received. A wonderful moment of Rotary generosity and fellowship. here
Valentine’s Day Dance – Music, Merriment & a Noisy Night!
On Saturday 14th February, members of the Goolwa Town Band hosted a fantastic Valentine’s Day Dance at the Middleton Pioneer Hall.
A big thank you to our wonderful Rotarians who came along to help run the bar on the night — your support was greatly appreciated. It was a lively evening filled with music, laughter and plenty of community spirit. (Although it must be said… it was a little on the noisy side! 😉)
Everyone appeared to have a fabulous time, and special mention must go to Di, who well and truly danced the night away! 💃 As well as Phil and Chris who definitely had their dancing shoes on!
It was another great example of community groups working together and enjoying fellowship beyond our regular meetings.

Debbie was particularly impressed with the wonderful teamwork on display, with everyone pitching in and helping to make the night such a success.
