Goolwa Christmas Festival Committee -
The Goolwa Christmas Festival Committee, being an independent Community body, decided to review & update the constitution to reflect current practice.
The Lions Club of Goolwa did not want community members on the Committee to have voting rights and only people from Goolwa could be on the Committee.
The Goolwa Christmas Festival Committee Annual Meeting on Monday 18th of March 2019 was hijacked by 15 + members of the Lions Club of Goolwa.
Their spokesperson (who was NOT committee member) moved that the River Port of Goolwa Christmas Festival Association Inc and the Goolwa Christmas festival Committee be wound up.
The assets of the association and committee be distributed equally among the Rotary club of Goolwa Inc and the Lions Club of Goolwa Inc. All Bank accounts be closed
All documentation to be copied to the Presidents of Rotary and Lions by 31 March 19.
No reason for the motion was given and was passed by the overwhelming number of Lions members. The Committee abstained from voting.
Lions indicated by a raising of hands that they would be able to put on the Festival & Pageant this year.
The Board of the Rotary Club of Goolwa met on Thursday 21st March 19. The Board would write to the Lions Board requesting an apology from their club for the subversive tactics of their President and the lack of Community spirit engaged by the Lions members towards the Rotary members on the Committee.

Victor Harbor Ocean to outback Bike ride 8 a.m. Thursday 8 a.m. leaving from the causeway Café.  Rotarians are riding from Victor Harbor to the conference at Broken Hill, raising funds to support Rotary Health, Mental Health awareness.  The Café is supporting the ride with the money raised from all coffees purchased between 8 & 9a.m. The board committed $500, and a check will be presented at the start.  Members please come dressed in our club shirts.

Community Report - Alexandrina Connect Embroidery Business proposal.
The purchase of the embroidery business has fallen through. We have received a request from the president Margaret Gardiner, requesting that the funds promised for this project be diverted to either moving premises, or purchase of a olive grove on Hindmarsh Island.
I have advised Margaret that our grant was specifically for the embroidery business, and any other project would require a new application.
Application forms sent.

S.A. Water Grant - We have received advice from S.A. Water that funds are available for community groups to participate in a water saving project.
I have made several calls to the council, to see if there was anywhere, we could put such a grant to use. I eventually got a reply from Ian Brett, who stated that all council property complied with S.A. Water guide lines, and he would get back to me if he could think of anything.
The board decided to look into the grant to fund the purchase of water saving crystals to put with tree planting this year.

The death of Mario Ferraro, the brother of Leno, and part owner of the Goolwa Shopping centre was announced in this morning’s paper.  Flowers have been sent to the family, at Café DeCarlo, on behalf of the club.

The 4 WAY TEST

Remember this motto as it should be what we live by:

Of the things we think, say or do
                Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
