President's Opening Remarks
President Andy welcomed Yvonne and John Anear and all members. He notified all the scheduled Guest Speaker (Elizabeth Davis talking about ROMAC, and her partner) were unable to attend the meeting this evening. He then invited Kevin Hales to talk about the contribution made by former member Hans Dansen (dec).

Hans Dansen (dec) background and Bequest
Hans died in December 2022. Kevin told all present how Hans had been a former President of the RC of Goolwa in the early 2000's and about the projects that Hans had taken ownership of. These were collection of the ring-pulls, postage stamps and foreign currency and distribution of the Emergency Medical Books. All of these tasks were done quietly behind the scenes. Kevin then introduced Yvonne who spoke about how much her father enjoyed being a Rotarian, and the good work done by Rotary. Yvonne presented President Andy with an extremely generous gift on behalf of Hans of $5000. President Andy and all members thanked Yvonne for this very kind donation.
Yvonne Hurrell spoke about how Hans encouraged members to attend a convention in Port Lincoln, and that half the club ended up attending. Everyone had a wonderful experience.

President Andy then outlined his aspirations for the coming year and that our club should be involved in the "Rotary Expo" at the Yankalilla show on 30th September and the "Rotary says NO to Domestic Violence" rally on 25th November. President Andy also talked about two fundraising events the High School are holding to support the 10 students taking part in Operation Flinders.
Andy also mentioned that the Catering Committee would seek approval from the Board to hold an American-themed dinner as a fundraiser. Committee working on costings for the Director of Community to present to the Board.
President Andy acknowledged birthdays below and congratulated Kevin Hales on 17 years with the RC of Goolwa (joined July 17th 2006) and 37 years in Rotary.

The Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action. It has been for years, and it will be in the future. Of the things we think, say or do …

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER Friendships?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
