Meeting 1659 Tuesday 19th of May & Meeting 1660 Tuesday 2nd June

Firstly, my apologies for not getting a bulletin out sooner. Between work, Rotary, community events and life in general, time got away from me! To keep everyone up to date, here is a brief wrap-up of Meetings 1659 and 1660.

Firstly, my apologies for not getting a bulletin out sooner. Between work, Rotary, community events and life in general, time got away from me! To keep everyone up to date, here is a brief wrap-up of Meetings 1659 and 1660.

Meeting 1659 – 19 May 2026

Meeting 1659 was another enjoyable evening of fellowship, with members enjoying fish and chips followed by lemon self-saucing pudding and ice cream.

President Debbie provided updates on upcoming club activities, including Rotary Centenary Park, Changeover, Christmas in July and other club events.

Members heard a fascinating "This Is Your Life" presentation from David McDonald, who shared stories from his life growing up in Mount Gambier, his years working throughout Australia and overseas in the mining industry, and how a chance meeting with Alan Williams ultimately led him to Rotary.

Our guest speaker, Shannon, spoke passionately about Operation Flinders and the incredible impact the program has on young people facing challenges. Shannon also highlighted opportunities for Rotary to support the organisation and its volunteers.

The evening concluded with fines, fellowship and the raffle.

Meeting 1660 – 2 June 2026

Meeting 1660 featured two excellent "Life Story" presentations from Kevin Hales and Sonia Laucke.

Kevin reflected on his life, experiences and long association with Rotary, while Sonia shared her own personal journey and the experiences that have shaped her commitment to community service and volunteering. Both presentations were warmly received and provided wonderful insights into two valued members of our Rotary family.

The highlight of the evening came during the raffle, when Debbie finally broke the jackpot drought. After weeks of near misses, Debbie drew the yellow ball and took home the prize, bringing the ever-growing jackpot to an end much to the delight of those present!

Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to the success of our club through fellowship, service and good humour.
