- 11th July 2024 6 pm- Community Bank Fleurieu, Community Investment Evening. Mount Compass Sports and Social Club.
- 13th July 2024 - RC Goolwa hosting a ShelterBox demonstration day for new Area 5 clubs at Sea Scout Hall, North Goolwa. We will do a hot lunch and assist with the tent. Peter Jarvis will be on hand to talk about ShelterBox. More details later.
- 27th July 2024. High Tea/Lunch at Chris Smith's house. A fundraising event for RC Goolwa.
- 05-11th April 2025 Australian Federation of Rotary Golfers golf tournament. Details to follow.
- 11th-13th April 2025 District Conference at Morphettville Racecourse. Details to follow.
Meeting 1614- 4th June 2024

Visitors Aidan Richardson (Guest Speaker) and his mentor Samantha Hernandez (from the Wirreanda Secondary School Flexible Learning Program), Chris Smith (RC Loxton) who will be joining RC Goolwa next month and Brian Parkinson (bar).
Sergeant Meredith opened the meeting and Sergeant's Helper Yvonne gave the invocation and Toast to Australia.
President's Report
President Jan welcomed all and announced birthdays and anniversaries. She then introduced Aidan and Samantha.
Jan thanked former Members and current Honourary Members Wendy and Greg for all their help whilst here last week. Treasurer Lyn and Director Club Services Sue were particularly thankful for Wendy and Greg's help.
a) RC Goolwa received a $5000 donation from Bendigo Bank to help fit out our new food van.
b) Bendigo Bank will be giving a presentation on 11th July at Mount Compass on Investment opportunities. RC Goolwa needs to be well represented at this event. Funding for our Food Trailer night. Board members requested to attend. All members welcome to come along. Dietary requirements requested. Please wear teal shirts. We will need to carpool.
c) ShelterBox demonstration on 13th July at Scout Hall. Invitations sent to all District 9510 Group 5 Clubs and RC Strathalbyn. This event will be attended by the incoming District Governor (Marie-Louise Lees) and Rotary Group Leader (Linda Sweeney). We will be providing soup and sausage rolls. All RC Goolwa members requested to attend.
2-Minute Spots
a) Meredith Harton (Director Environment)
With Board approval, the Environment Committee would like to purchase a "Peace Pole". We will need to do fundraising for this if approved. These 4-sided poles can have messages of peace on all sides. Suggested that we do English, Braille, Ngarrindjeri and pictures of hands signing peace. Suggestion made to place at Goolwa Market next to the shelter.
b) Noeline Biermann (V-P and Secretary)
Fathers' Day Raffle. Noeline has started the roster, please add your name to any available timeslots. We commence selling tickets on Thursday 6th June. Noeline also handing out raffle books for members to sell.
c) Tony McWhinney (Director International)
RC Unley conduct 'Police Officer of the Year' yearly. Nominations are open (close 12th July). Tony would like to nominate Sergeant Darren Parker (our local Police Officer). Tony has had dealings with Darren on a personal level and through Neighbourhood Watch. Pat Salter will go through with Tony Darren's Community Involvement. All agreed this was a good choice.
d) Tamara McRobbie (Goolwa Community Committee)
i) Unfortunately there were very few people at the scheduled meeting to discuss the Christmas activities. Tamara setting up this group to take the onus off RC Goolwa. Need to formalise a constitution and set up sub-committees (Concert and Pageant).
ii) Rotary Classifieds - If anyone has anything for the Classifieds, get info to Tamara.
e) Kevin Hales
i) Kevin endorsed Tony's suggestion of Darren Parker for Police Officer of the year and outlined some of the interactions he has had with Darren whilst organising the Christmas events.
ii) Kevin notified that he went to RC Hornsby meeting whilst in NSW, and that the RC Goolwa has sent more than $3,300 of Foreign Money to them. Great achievement.
f) Debbie Buckingham (Director Community)
Debbie advised that we need another volunteer for the Bunnings BBQ to help with the packing up.
Janet Tapping and Di Keach had a personal messages of good health news for a partner of one of our members (Dave Steffens) and a thankyou to another of our members (Bronnie for help with RSA).
Guest Speaker Aidan Richardson (with introduction by Samantha Hernandez)
Sam (Aidan's guide from the Wirreanda Flexible Learning program) told us how Aidan is currently working towards his Gold for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, having completed Bronze and Silver. Aidan took part in a RC Goolwa-sponsored activity on the One and All. RC Goolwa member Shannon was Aidan's mentor for this activity. Aidan told members about his experience and the challenges and rewards of doing this program. He did a great job with his presentation, but more importantly, found the experience really rewarding. Aidan then took questions from the floor. His biggest take home message was "Challenge yourself, you don't know what you are capable of."

Happy and Sad $$$ and Fines were paid. The raffle was drawn by Jim and Meredith had the winning ticket, but drew a white ball.

Goolwa Big Band Concert
The Goolwa Band held a Goolwa Big Band in Cabaret concert at Centenary Hall on June 8th and RC Goolwa members manned the bar. A great night was had by all.
