Sergeant Greg opened the meeting at 7 PM
 
President Wendy welcomed everyone, including Honorary Rotarians Alan Jones and Tony Lucas, and soon to be member, David Baker.

Wendy thanked Averil for renewing our visiting club flag banners, hung in the Goolwa hotel when we have our meetings.
Also to Kevin, for revarnishing and adjusting the poles to hang them.
 
Hat day - October 26th - fun and games.
Lift The Lid on mental illness - National fundraising and awareness campaign for mental health research.
 
Satellite Club update
We are about to launch the Satellite Club with an informational breakfast network meeting, which will be held in October. There will also be a speaker and invites are to go out to prospective members and any interested parties.
If you know anyone who may be interested, please pass on our brochure and give these details to the committee for follow up.
An invitation will be issued, once details have been finalised.
 
End Polio Ute Relay.
Our club will have the End Polio Ute on Wednesday, 9th December. Passed on by the Rotary club of Strathalbyn and handed over to the Rotary club of Victor Harbor/encounter Bay on the following day.
20 raffle tickets will be made available to every member, as fundraising for End Polio Now.
Where, when and how the ute will be used is in the planning stage.
 
Event cancellations.
  • As e-mailed to everyone, the Rotary club of Yankalilla have cancelled their bonfire night dinner on 19th September,
  • The District Conference in Bendigo Victoria, planned for April 2021, has been cancelled; however, there is a rumour that it will be held in Adelaide instead, dates and venue yet to be advised.
Rotary International Conference.
To be held in Melbourne, for the 2022–2023 Rotary year.
Planning is in progress.
 
Constitution Bylaws.
These have been updated and amended in accordance with the new District 9510. These have been distributed for your perusal prior to this meeting.
The Constitution bylaws were proposed to the meeting for approval and accepted by all.
 
An e-mail was received from District 9510 re fundraiser to provide free face masks to vulnerable communities in Victoria, organised through the Rotary club of Unley.
Wendy propose to donate $200, which will provide 40 face masks.

can everyone please make sure that they sign the attendance records for both the hotel and the club.

we have a Covid safe kit, which we do not need at meetings.
It will be kept in the little shed, and must be taken to events. John Rix is our guest speaker on 28th of September, he will be talking about insurance, so if anyone has any questions please direct them to Karen.
 
Kevin - RYDA
Roger and Kevin attended the RYDA  driver awareness course last Friday.
Greg and Averil will attend the course next Friday.
 
Janet - community lunches
There will be no community lunches at the uniting Church until November. Janet will let us know when they start again.

On Sunday, 18th October at the Goolwa Yacht Club, there will be a celebration of Nanette's life.
Please contact Ron, if you wish to say anything.
Her ashes will be scattered on the water and a minister will say a prayer for her.
The club will be open and can those attending please wear their Rotary shirts.
 
Di - Open Garden.
The open Garden will be held on October 31 and November 1. There will be two gardens.
Di needs as many helpers as possible, so if you can help, please contact her.
 
Induction of new member.
David Baker was inducted into the Rotary club of Goolwa.
Welcome David!.
 
Wendy then thanked everyone for attending, and read a couple of messages from her happy Jar to end the meeting.

Combined DG meeting at the Rotary club of Strathalbyn on Tuesday, September 22.
The clubs'  director's gave short reports on their club's progress and plans.
DG David Jones talked about the future of Rotary, in particular, District 9510,  and also the new satellite club which our club is in the process of starting.
