The Breakfast Meeting graciously met “again” as a round table for their breakfast as the Lunch Meeting was held at the Soo Curlers Association where we ordered from a selection of items.  There was a bit of a wait for some but it was worth it in the end!

Doug was back from his trip to Portugal, Norm and Kerry were back as well – did they have a Rotary Meeting together while they were away???…..and Doug chaired the meeting for our recovering President Neil.

Both meetings were informal so no money was exchanged and no one was fined for doing something they shouldn’t have.….

Our Agenda

The April Program Committee arranged for Brad Jacob’s to speak to us and he in turn asked Ryan Fry to join him.   So the story begins…

Thank you very much to Brad Jacobs and Ryan Fry for joining us for a wonderful lunch at the Sault Curling Rink. Brad and Ryan shared their experiences as they prepared for, and competed at, the Brier and the World's Curling Championship. The long hours of honing their skills on the ice and enhancing their fitness levels off the ice are evident.

To succeed, exemplary communication, strategy, trust, support, and the occasional "blow-up" to clear the air are necessary.  Competing on the world's stage brings immense scrutiny, fatigue and pressure.  To succeed, there is little to no margin for error.

Moving to the next level for the Jacob's team would be to represent Canada and compete at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

Without a doubt, the example set by the Jacob's team is one of resiliency, dedication and a love of the sport.  The popularity of curling is definitely on the rise.

Thank you for being amazing ambassadors.  You have definitely encouraged us to "hurry hard".

Congratulations Ryan, E.J., Ryan, Brad and Tom!

Best wishes in Toronto as you compete in the Players' Championship.  The top 15 teams in the world will be there.

See you next week!
