President Brian Walmark began this spirited meeting with his personal Land Acknowledgement and Indigenous-themed reflection.

Werner Schwar, Supervisor of Parks and Open Space Planning for the City of Thunder Bay has  extensive experience as a landscape architect and more!  He outlined the many excellent city projects underway, all greatly enhancing Thunder Bay’s landscape:

1. The Current River Greenway will be one of the biggest urban parks in Canada.
2. Trowbridge Falls Park will be an even better destination for hikers and mountain bikers.
3. Centennial Park’s woodland adventure playground (all wood) includes a zip line and BBQ area.
4. Centennial Park Wayfinding Signage will enhance navigation of the many trail systems.
5. Boulevard Lake Park will soon have a Jumpstart Accessible Playground (Canadian Tire funded)
6. Waddington Park will get updated LED lighting
7. Fisherman's Park West with the LRCA, with enhanced naturalization, will improve the Waterfront Trail Rotary Community Action Committee’s (WTCAT’s) trail complex.
What incredible improvements for all residents and visitors to Thunder Bay – we applaud Werner Schwar and everyone at City Hall working on these projects!
