  President's Report

Thankfully a bit quieter week with only the Norman Lindsay Parking last Saturday. Again not the crowds they expected so a quiet & easy task.

An educational and thought provoking talk last Monday from District Environmental team member  Kirsten. Some good ideas for us to contemplate initiating to do our bit for the environment. Interesting that Lower Blue has just commenced encouraging the use of the Return & Earn scheme to keep bottles & cans out of landfill and to generate income. Something we have successfully been doing now for about 4 years.

Last Monday also saw one of a Clubs “feel good” moments – the induction of Kelvin into the Club. Please make him welcome.

This week will see the Board meet so wait for updates on Club plans at the meeting.  I will have the pleasure of inducting yet another 3 new members: Al, Satya and Archna.

Then on Friday night those who have indicated their interest in assisting Geoff with our D’Caf project will join a Zoom training/information meeting (watch out for the email invite/link details). The first D’Caf will then take place on Tuesday 14th so don’t forget, if Geoff has contacted you, to assist.

Then on Saturday we have our Bunnings Sizzle. Director Bruce advises we are still a couple short so if you haven’t yet volunteered do so ASAP to avoid any “double shifts”

Is anyone interested in arranging/hosting a Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea in May (any date)? Let me know and I’ll forward the information.

Springwood Roatary Club Annual Changover - June 26th

Changeover for this Rotary year has been decided and will be at the Royal Hotel on the Monday 26th of June.

We have a confirmed booking with Jarrod the publican for approximately 60 people.
I realise I need to speak to the kitchen caterers as well.

I am contacting you all because I think I remember most of you from the meetings at the Royal last year saying you could possibly help with the organisation for this year too.

I have added Kevin as our sound and visual tech guy.I have extended this to include our incoming president so he has a clear plan of the evening’s events if he wishes to attend any of the meetings.

Could you please let me know by return email if you can help make this a special night for our club.I really need your help and experience of these events, especially Deborah with her wonderful decorating ideas.

Regards
Dee C.

BUNNINGS BBQ - SAT 18 MARCH 2023 - SHORTAGE OF VOLUNTEERS

I apologise to those who have already advised me of their ability or otherwise to assist at the above mentioned BBQ at Bunnings but I am still short 3 people to man the event. In particular I need a cashier for the last shift and cooks for the second and third shifts. The difficulty in finding volunteers is due in part to a number of regulars being away from the area, family celebrations and the Rotary District Conference on during this particular weekend.

For those who have advised me of their availability and have received an acknowledgement from me  please do not reply unless you have not mentioned which of the duties you wish to do and would like to either cook or be the cashier for the shifts mentioned.

For those who have still to advise me of their availability for this event, please dig deep and, if you can afford to give 2 1/2 hours of your time to a Rotary fund raising event to fill in those vacant slots mentioned above, please email me ASAP.

Thanking you for your attention to this dilemma,
Cheers
Bruce

RSVP - A Gentle Reminder (or not)

 - Please remember to contact Cheryl K. regarding your attendance at our weekly meetings depending on whether you are on List A or List B.

As a reminder those on List A let Cheryl know prior to Sunday night 5:00 PM if you are NOT going to attend and those on List B let Cheryl know if you ARE going to attend. For both lists it is also important to notify if you are bringing a guest.

To find which list you are on and contact details for Cheryl simply click on the meeting in the right hand column in the Springword under Events which will take you to a new page with all the necessary details. (The details are also available on our website in a similar position)

 - Similarly it is also important to our event organisers to respond to their emails requesting help/volunteers/attendance with either a yay or nay so that planning can take place smoothly without any further stress being placed on them by not knowing if people are or are not available.

It only takes a few moments to hit the reply button and say Yes or No...

The Editor (you can hassle me about the above)
