  President's Report

It has been a very quiet week with a fair attendance at the Club Meeting on Monday.

Pat Ainslie gave a talk on her life expeiences especially as a Senior Commander in the UK Police force near Scotland. It also included her many other successful career paths after starting out as a 'Saturday girl' in the UK version of Woolworths. Quite entertaining with inspirartion thrown in to boot.

Word has it that Norm is currently in Nelson Bay and due back in Sydney immanently but certainly in time to chair our meeting Monday

Frank is currently at the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne and tells me that there are around 14,000 attendees! I suggest that we get a report from him on Monday night as to the highlights. He will have been joined today by Al K. as another attendee from Springwood Rotary.

Deborah W. is progressing well on her goal of getting 1,000 pocket buddies made with approximately 600 having been made. She has done a great organisation job getting other groups, clubs and individuals to contribute there time and skills. It could be there will be a 'stuffing day' in the near future but that is for Deborah to say. A few words from her on Monday as to the progress and upcoming needs would be good to hear. (see picture below)

Community Service

Activities within the Community Portfolio this reporting period consisted of the monthly Bunnings BBQ which produced an excellent result of $484 from sales and $32 from donations which totalled $516. A sterling effort from our great crew operating in rather chilly conditions (except for the chefs). Thank you once again to all those involved.

Last Tuesday saw two activities, the Dementia Café and the TAFE luncheon, unfortunately these activities clashed . Our apologies to those volunteers at the D Café who could not attend the TAFE Luncheon; the clash occurred because the TAFE event was locked in prior to the commencement of the D Café program – it will not happen again folks.

Valda had a happy and satisfied group at lunch at the TAFE and the food, once again, did not fail to impress. This activity is a community support activity but I must say, is a very pleasant one. Thanks again to all who attended, and thank you Valda for your organisation.

A relatively quiet period for Community in the coming month leading up to ‘Changeover’ with only  the scheduled D Cafes and our monthly Bunnings BBQ on Sat 17 June on the calendar.

Only a few days left to make your annual donation!!!

End of May please.

ROTARY FOUNDATION
CENTURION PROGRAMME

The Centurion program is a convenient way to make a personal contribution to our charity, The Rotary Foundation.

Most clubs make contributions to The Foundation from funds the clubs raise but the Centurion program is personal. The contribution of $A100 a year is voluntary. It is renewed annually by you but you can request regular deductions if you prefer.
The funds are paid to the Australian Rotary Foundation Trust, going to either Polio Plus or the Annual Fund at your discretion. Your contribution is recognised by the presentation of a personalised Certificate by your club each year.

A contribution of $A100 is not a major commitment for most people, but collectively it represents a major contribution to the Foundation. Your individual contribution counts towards a Paul Harris Fellowship and adds to your club’s Annual Giving total when you direct the funds to Annual Fund -Share Program. This program returns about 45% of your donation to our District as District Designated Funds for use in District and Global Grants, with the remainder supporting other Rotary Foundation efforts, such as Peace Fellows, Polio, and Programs of Scale.

Partners and friends of Rotarians are welcome to become Centurions and their support will be most welcome.

PERSONAL DONATIONS TO THE ROTARY FOUNDATION ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
They can be made to the Club which will then be remitted and your Tax Receipt will be forwarded directly to you.

To ensure your donation is received & receipted before end of financial year and the Club receives the appropriate recognition please deposit you contribution into the Clubs Community Account (BSB: 112-879  Account 09887 6456)  BY END OF MAY ,under advice to myself and Treasurer Bill.
