  President's Report 
 
Well, what a busy week that was.
 
Firstly, a huge Thank You to Paul & Suzanne for another gourmet Christmas function which was enjoyed by so many of the members. So sorry to have missed it, but that’s life.
 
Secondly, congratulations to the Team that made Springwood Late Night Shopping a fun – although very busy – night. We have a reported provisional profit of approx $1100.00.  Santa & his Elf had fun entertaining the kids with photo shoots and lollies. The cashiers & servers jobs were made so much easier with the new “ticket” system – thank you Deborah & Deana. And not to forget our two hard working cooks who just kept the snags coming.
 
Lastly, another successful Bunnings (sold out by 2:30) coming in with an approximate $600.00 profit. Thanks to our Friends Roger & Margaret for stepping up to replace our ailing Bruce & Deborah & Nyree for covering Sheryn’s spot.
 
Thanks to all who participated in our Gingerbread Hose fundraiser which produced a  $ 570.00 profit for the Club. It was these funds that allowed us to provide $500 to the Western NSW Flood Relief project of supplying rakes, shovels, mops, brooms etc to assist in the clean up.
 
We mustn't forget the Christmas Hampers assembled, wrapped and delivered to the Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre also.
 
Our “Fist Full of Gift Cards” Raffle was drawn at Bunnings on Saturday with the winners:- 1st Ticket 0765, 2nd Ticket 0654, 3rd Ticket 1112. Winners contacted and prizes collected. Thanks to all who purchased and/or sold tickets with special thanks to our co-ordinator Jenny. The resulting profit of $5000 will allow us to supply two (2) Defibrillators to our Community (sites yet to be finalised) and signage around the area advising “Where nearest Defibrillator is “.
 
Sending get better soon wishes to Bruce & Deborah and others who are not feeling so well just now.
 
   Wishing you all & your loved ones a very Merry, Safe Christmas and New Year. See you again on Monday the 16th of January - just remember to advise Cheryl of apologies or attendance (depending if you are on the A or B list.)

Editor's Note

The majority of this Springword is going to consist of 'Photo Albums' of the various events noted by Norm in his President's Report above so have fun looking at them.
 
Also a reiteration the there are NO meetings at the Ori until the 16th of January so if you mistakenly attend your on your own (unless others show up too).
 
This will be last Springword for this year.
 
Everybody please have a safe and happy holiday season and enjoy! Let us see each other in the New Year rested and ready for the resumption of our service to the community.

Community Report

 
A rather inglorious end to the year for your Community Director (me) being unable to attend the last two events for 2023 due to illness – and my reliable sidekick and adjutant, Deborah, is in the same boat. However, it was very necessary because we would not like to be responsible for passing this flu virus on to any of our friends in Rotary.
 
I would like to thank all those who stepped in to assume those duties and tasks left vacant by Deborah and my absence. This was done with understanding, very efficiently and without any fuss and I have been advised that our contribution to the Late Night Shopping event was highly successful. Particularly I wish to thank Deana, Bill, Kevin, Adam and Frank who shouldered the majority of the extra responsibility for the BBQ – you are always ultra-reliable. Although the final reconciliation is yet to be done, the rough estimate is that the Club made around the $1000 profit for the night. A great effort and you all have my thanks. (Editor: At time of publishing ~ $1.100)
 
One event to go to wrap up the year, Bunnings BBQ tomorrow. Again, my bride and I will not attend, and I thank Margaret and Roger Bowen for offering to replace us as soon as they were aware of the problem. You two are great ‘friends’ of the Club. The XMAS raffle will be drawn at 12pm at the BBQ so if you are in the vicinity please drop in as a ‘captive’ audience to support the Club.
 
(Adendum: I have just received the final tally from Bill of the sales today at the Bunnings BBQ - a very pleasing $600 nett. A great way to finish the year and I thank you for your efforts today. I would also like to particularly thank the final crew who did a marvellous job of cleaning up. It was a sparkling BBQ area which greeted me when I went to pick up our kit. The state of the area even drew very positive comments an acclaim from the Bunnings Staff. Thanks to the Kenny's, the Bowens and Nyree Waterson.)
 
Finally, my last missive for the year, and as Deborah and I missed the Christmas Party due to this illness, we missed out on wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for your support for my first six months and we look forward to 2023 with you.
