  President's Report
A big thank you to all who braved the elements last Monday to attend the first meeting for 2022 – 2023. Unfortunately those elements prevented our guest speaker from attending.
However, we enjoyed a fun filled evening full of fellowship.
I extend my apologies to Past President Jenny due to a communication breakdown her awards at Changeover were not reported on in our last Springword.
President Jenny (as she was then) was awarded thru anonymous donors to the Foundation a sapphire jewel to add to her Paul Harris Fellow. The citation read:-
Jenny has been a committed Rotarian for many years and President of Springwood Rotary for the past 2 years. The value she has brought to our club during this most difficult COVID time is unparalleled. Jenny has provided amazing leadership and problem solving and her business acumen has led to new and innovative ideas for fundraising. She has steadied the ship and kept members happy in their roles. Jenny is the first to volunteer her service in most Community activities from Bunnings, Golf Days, Community events, raffle sales and much more.
We believe Jenny lives the ideals of Rotary “Service above Self “ and always looks for opportunities to serve.
It was with pleasure that I also presented on behalf of the Board and members a “Silver Sponsor” award from Australian Rotary Health.
Following on from a wonderful District Changeover on Saturday night I was also able to present to P P Jenny the District Bulletin Award for 2021-22 and to report that P P Marilyn was awarded a further Sapphire to add to her Paul Harris Fellow for dedicated and untiring work as District Communications Director. Congratulations to you both.
This Monday will see the first Board meeting for the year which will be followed with a Director information session to the Club.

Adam Law 'Riding for Kids'
At our last meeting Adam told how he has so far raised $2,512 for the Bicycle Packages project which is enough to provide 10 bicycle 'packages' to kids who would otherwise not be able to receive them. The packages include a bicycle, helmet and a lock to enable safe riding.
Well done Adam and the project continues as he only is half way to his goal. The ride occurs in March 2023...
Mima Howard - Our New District Govenor 2022-23
Mina joined the Blackheath Rotary Club in 2006 and became its first female president in 2011 serving a two-year term after three years as secretary. She was Assistant Governor for two terms, is a facilitator on the RLI team and is the District Vocational Chair 2020-2021. Mina is a PHF+5 and is committed to supporting The Rotary Foundation.

Mina and Larry look forward to their Rotary journey over the next several years and are focused on encouraging clubs to be relevant, fun, reflective of their community and committed to supporting the Rotary Foundation and achieving the end of polio.
The Great Daffodil Massacre

After our members effort weeding and planting the Rotary plaque with donated daffodils the Blue Mountains Council came along and lopped their heads off with a weed whacker!

There has been communication with the Council and it is understood that the Council wants an 'agreement' with the Springwood Rotary regarding the care and responsibility for that area.

As developments arise it will be reported...
