A big thank you to all who braved the elements last Monday to attend the first meeting for 2022 – 2023. Unfortunately those elements prevented our guest speaker from attending.
However, we enjoyed a fun filled evening full of fellowship.
I extend my apologies to Past President Jenny due to a communication breakdown her awards at Changeover were not reported on in our last Springword.
President Jenny (as she was then) was awarded thru anonymous donors to the Foundation a sapphire jewel to add to her Paul Harris Fellow. The citation read:-
Jenny has been a committed Rotarian for many years and President of Springwood Rotary for the past 2 years. The value she has brought to our club during this most difficult COVID time is unparalleled. Jenny has provided amazing leadership and problem solving and her business acumen has led to new and innovative ideas for fundraising. She has steadied the ship and kept members happy in their roles. Jenny is the first to volunteer her service in most Community activities from Bunnings, Golf Days, Community events, raffle sales and much more.
We believe Jenny lives the ideals of Rotary “Service above Self “ and always looks for opportunities to serve.
It was with pleasure that I also presented on behalf of the Board and members a “Silver Sponsor” award from Australian Rotary Health.
Following on from a wonderful District Changeover on Saturday night I was also able to present to P P Jenny the District Bulletin Award for 2021-22 and to report that P P Marilyn was awarded a further Sapphire to add to her Paul Harris Fellow for dedicated and untiring work as District Communications Director. Congratulations to you both.
This Monday will see the first Board meeting for the year which will be followed with a Director information session to the Club.
