Although small in number a very fun filled, noisy evening topped off with Marilyn’s my life story and we all got home in time to watch the Police Rescue documentary.
Little to report this week other than Fred is doing well and hopes to be back on deck very soon. We all wish you a speedy recovery Fred.
Welcome back to PE Frank & Al from their trip to Melbourne for the International Convention of some 14,000 Rotarians from around the world. I’m sure we will hear more soon.
Changeover preparations are well under way for a great evening celebrating the past year and inducting Frank as President. Invitations have been emailed and I ask you all to respond with an acceptance or decline so no follow up phone calling is required. On the evening you are requested to enter by the furthest right hand (closest to station) entry door if coming off Macquarie Rd or if using the car park at rear (off Springwood Ave) entry via the stairs or lift.
The organising committee is seeking suitable (wine, plant, chocolates) Raffle Prizes. Should you be inclined to donate same, please contact Dee.
This Monday we will hear from Cayden a student at Blaxland High on his recent trip to the UK as part of the Youth Football Team.
Norm & I have met this morning (Friday) with Kalani Gacon regarding our club supporting their Mountain of Youth Project. It is a project which is run over 6 months and this year they are going to be working with students from Springwood High School. Kalani is a film director and ran a similar project last year mentoring Katoomba High students to produce their own feature film. The link to last years film can be found below, along with a link to the article in the Gazette.
Students will be recommended by the school & they anticipate approx 12 students will be involved. They are targeting students at risk of leaving school early, those experiencing mental health issues & those from poor socio-economic backgrounds. The project sounds like a great opportunity for the students involved & we have offered our support, financial & practical, pending discussion with the Board.
Thanks,
Sheryn.
