  President's Report

This past Monday we had our Pride of Workmanship Awards Night at the Ori recognsing several individuals and our Spingwood NSW Ambulance Service. there were 42 attendees altogether and Paul Erickson was a masterful MC. A great time was had and the awards well deserved. See more below.

As you can see below we had a very good start to our Raffle Ticket Sales but more volunteers are still needed so please look at next weeks Roster (below) and if you can 'step up' and sit down for a couple of hours of ticket selling please. Contact Jenny K. if you can.

Please note directly below the Urgent Appeal for volunteers for the 11th as we have a 'last minute' addition to our BBQ requests.

Althiguh more will come forward in next weeks Springword we essentially 'sold out' last night at the Twighlight Markets. The people just kept coming to us... The hard working crew and organisers deserve the accolades for a successful evening! (Also the first use of our new Menu signs - looking professional!)

Also apologies for the late dispatch of the Spingword as technology refused to cooperate and I was awaiting a final 'dispatch' regarding the Pride of Workmanship Awards... See Below.

Urgent Appeal for Volunteers from Bruce W.

I know this is late notice for a function a little over a week away but I am trying to see whether we can get enough volunteers together to support this event. I have been trying to get information on this event for several weeks and have just been informed that, if we can handle it, it would be to cook and serve about 400 sausage sandwiches from 12 to 1.30 pm at Faulconbridge School. We would be utilising the Club's trailer.

The 11th of november is of course Remembrance Day and many of you are involved in the Twilight Market this Friday so I will understand if people are reluctant to volunteer, but please let me know ASAP if you can so I can give the school an answer.

'Special' Guest Speaker next Monday:

Just to let you all know that Jenny Kroonstuiver will be our Guest Speaker next week. She will be speaking on growing up in remote, rural Australia and telling us some of her stories and the things that lead to her now being an author.

This should be an interesting evening especially for those of us that are 'city slickers'!

Pride of Workmanship Wards

The Rotary Club of Springwood recognised the achievements of seven local individuals and businesses in their annual Pride of Workmanship Awards held this week at the Ori Hotel.

Among the recipients were the NSW Ambulance Springwood Station where the efforts of all 23 staff during the bushfires and the COVID pandemic were celebrated. They were nominated by Valda Bray. The award was received on behalf of the service by Chief Inspector of the Springwood and Katoomba stations, Murray Traynor.
“This gave us great pride in what we do as paramedics. We do not expect to be recognised but to be recognised by a highly esteemed community group such as Rotary is a great honour,” he said.

Arrana Springwood  executive chef and Daniel Cabban and maitre de Leisa Cabban received individual awards for their exceptional restaurant meals and service.

Other recipients included home care provider Sue Bishop, nominated by Lynda Sparkes for her work ethic and professionalism.

Landscaper Garran Dayman, the leading landscaper and grounds maintenance supervisor for the Norman Lindsay Gallery was nominated by Bill Bowler for his dedication and professionalism.

Two realtors were also recognised this year. Nathan Chapman, nominated by John and Beth Fuller, was awarded for his exceptional customer service and high ethics. Stewart Lamont from McGrath Real Estate was nominated by Marilyn Kenney for his high standards of professionalism and diligence.

“These awards give Rotary the opportunity to recognise the excellent work of our local businesses as part of Rotary’s Community Service portfolio,” said Past President Paul Erickson, who announced the awards.
“Community service is one of the many aspects of Rotary’s work both locally and internationally and this year’s recipients of the Pride of Workmanship Awards are very worthy winners.”

Congratulations go to Bronwyn Berriman and Valda Bray who organized a very successful event.
