  President's Report

In lieu of an official report from our illustrious president who is currently taking a well deserved holiday on a cruise ship surely lounging on a deck chair alongside Cheryl with their chosen drinks to imbibe. Not that any of us are jealous or envious of his current circumstances...

We had an interesting talk from Joel Fuller via ZOOM as he is still isolated on his property on the Western side of the mountains. The internet behaved and the electronics likewise and we had an instructive and educational talk on the software that Joel designs and distributes to track work related safety incidents so that companies of all sizes and manner can recieve timely information and statistics to facillitate the management of risk and help improve worker safety.

John Fuller was given a send off (and perhaps just a little roasting or was that sizzling) on his move up to the Harvey Bay area. (I hope I heard and remember that correctly if not my fault).
He was presented with a 'Burn Bucket' full of gifts and remeberences including but not limited to burn ointment, bandaids, red wine (not from Bill Bs private stock)a and a Rotary apron. I think I can speak for all in that he will be missed for his dedication as a volunteer, good humour and a downright good bloke. Beth too will also be missed.

The End Polio Now Train riders were met down at Emu Plains by a contingent from Springwood and Lower Blue Rotaries. More about that below.

We have the Twighlight Markets coming on the 4th of November and volunteers are requested (see below)

The Christmas Raffle is also looking for volunteers (see below)

Twighlight Market Volunteers

Below is an extract from the email Bruce sent out regarding the need for Twighlight Market volunteers. If perhaps you didn't receive one or can volunteer please read and respond:

Although you may have already indicated that you may be available for the above event, would you now reply to this email confirming or otherwise your availability to man the BBQ on FRI 4 NOV with a  YES or NO. Although the markets only run from 6 to 9pm, I am reliably informed by those who have participated in previous Twilight Markets that this is a very busy and profitable couple of hours for the Club. I am planning on offering for sale sausage sizzles, steak sandwiches and egg and bacon sandwiches. Additionally, if enough members are available to man the event, I may offer hot dogs as well. We will have the trailer at the event as well as the portable BBQ therefore we will need 3-4 cooks, servers for 2 chafing tray serving points and a bain marie serving point, 2 cashiers  + sauce and drinks servers.

From the above you will have discerned that I will need as many volunteers as possible, and an early response will assist our detailed planning. Some volunteers will be required for the set up from approximately 5pm and the remainder from about 5.30pm so we can have a Toolbox talk and be ready to serve from 6pm.

It should be  a great event so check your calendar, if you haven't already, and let me know if you can support this event.

Cheers
Bruce W

Seeking Volunteers to sell raffle tickets

The Christmas Raffle - 'A Fist Full of Gift Cards' is about to commence, and Jenny K is seeking volunteers to sell tickets on set days between 1 November and 17 December. If we sell all tickets, we will raise about $5,000 towards President Norm’s defibrillators project. There are some great prizes!

The roster of all dates was sent out to members on 26 October - this gives all the dates and locations. Thank you to those people who have already volunteered!
Jenny will send out the roster for each week in the preceding week as a reminder.
In summary, for each day there are two shifts, each with two people: 10.00-1.00; and 1.00-4.00.

Locations are:
• Tuesdays: Winmalee shopping centre
• Thursdays: outside Priceline in Springwood
• Saturdays: Winmalee shopping centre
There are two pub selling stints at the Ori from 5.00-6.30pm, on Friday 25 November and Friday 16 December.

Tickets in books of 20 will also be available to members from either the Garden Centre (thank you Lynda!) or from Jenny K on meeting nights.

Please volunteer for a bit of sitdown work and spruiking our President's project and great prizes!
