Community Service Committee

 

 

 

The Principal approached the Rotary Club of Springwood to help with the school gardens as they are about to celebrate an anniversary at the school, this came about after seeing the work the Rotary Club of Springwood had undertaken at Buttonshaw Park.

 

A working bee, or a few, were organised and members of the club began designing gardens, pruning, weeding and planting.

 

The Principal was delighted with the work that has been completed and has asked the Rotary Club to supply a plaque in the grounds for the public to acknowledge the work of the Rotary Club of Springwood.    Earlier on in 2013 the Rotary Club of Springwood purchased and donated a ride on lawn mower for the school to assist in maintaining the grounds of the school.

 

                                       

 

 

 

After discovering one of our members had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer our club got behind the family and undertook a makeover at their Nursery, it gave us such pleasure to see the results and to give our friend this gift as she does so much for other people and the community.

 

 

                                          

 

 

Buttonshaw Park Project 2012 - 2013

 

The Rotary International Garden donated by The Rotary Club of Springwood inc inside Buttonshaw Park Springwood has proven a great success with visitors to the park.  The Rotary Club of Springwood approached the custodians of the park after noticing a number of the garden beds were overgrown, unkept and showing signs of neglcet. Working with the Blue Mountains Sister City Committee the Rotary Club of Springwood took the garden back to its foundations. Club members worked over a number of months in redesigning, planting  and creating the new space. The upkeep of the gardens is undertaken by member working bees from both the Rotary Club and Sister City committees working in conjunction with Blue Mountains Council.  The Rotary Club donated to the community a picnic bench and park bench dedicated to two of our founder members Alan Cameron and Fred Thompson who are both still active members of our club today.

The Park is now enjoyed by the public and it is great to see it being used for family parties.
