A Woman’s Place, Bucks County’s only domestic violence response and prevention-focused organization.

Jun 07, 2023 5:30 PM

Since 1976, A Woman’s Place, Bucks County’s only domestic violence response and prevention-focused organization, has been supporting victims of domestic violence with shelter, counseling, therapy, legal services, advocacy and more. Our current housing program not only provides a 24/7 hotline and runs a safe house, but AWP also focuses on rapid rehousing, where we support survivors by moving them into safe apartments within 30 to 60 days of entering shelter so that they may focus on healing. This program expansion has allowed AWP to host more families at the shelter while at the same time, support additional victims of DV in the community. In addition to housing, the organization has recently expanded counseling and therapy offerings with an additional licensed therapist on staff, a bi-lingual counselor, and an additional part-time children’s advocate. This program growth has allowed AWP to support victims experiencing the trauma of abuse and mental health issues stemming from it. AWP has also reorganized how Advocates support survivors through the court system with the Victim Response program. Advocates in this program support survivors through the PFA process, through criminal court and through the sentencing process as well. Finally, AWP serves survivors with two attorneys on staff to address legal issues stemming from DV. Through these various programs, AWP supported 2300 survivors last year.

About the speaker:

While this may seem like a significant amount of crisis intervention programming, we also believe that we must address the issue of DV on a societal level with prevention programming. Therefore, we have a team of educators in the school system from grades 4 through 12, talking to children about healthy friendships, boundaries, self-esteem and later, the importance of healthy dating relationships. Last year, this program served almost 6000 children throughout Bucks County.

FBA Annual Charity Golf Outing
Jun 26, 2023 10:30 AM - 8:00 PM

ENTRIES ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE FEASTERVILLE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION’S 32nd ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF OUTING TO BE HELD AT SPRING MILL COUNTRY CLUB IN IVYLAND, PA ON MONDAY, JUNE 26 2023.

  • Registration starts at 10:30.

At this year;s event the FBA is joined by Flyers Alumni Charities in sponsoring a bike for a disabled child. The presentation will be at the outing...

Getting our first bike, and learning to ride it, is a rite of passage: our first mode of independent transportation, something shared with family and friends. It’s a shared experience across many different cultures. learn more about this great effort at: https://flyersalumni.net/deserves-a-bike/

In the case of children with special needs, however, a bicycle is too often something that’s “only for other kids.”

In making the announcement, Ed Shannon, golf committee chairperson says that we’re gearing up for a great day of golf on a terrific course plus fine food and spirits, a hole-in-one car contest, closest to the hole and longest drive competitions, a complimentary individual gift, awards and door prizes plus appearances by local area sports celebrities. “Once again this year, we are anticipating a sellout, so I want to encourage all interested golfers to register early,” Shannon states.

Payroll Service Solutions is a prime sponsor for this year’s outing. Other sponsorship opportunities are available to area businesses and private individuals ranging from $150 for an individual hole sponsorship to $5,000 for a prime sponsorship.

The following sports celebrities are tentatively scheduled to join us at the outing:
