Well, a lot has been happening with plenty more activity to come in the next few weeks. When you have a read of this you will see what I mean. The month of October is shaping up to be quite a busy time.
Our oldest member Neville, (soon to be 97) had a nasty fall last Sunday. He was taken to Lake Macquarie Private Hospital for assessment, & is still there as of today but most of the tubes etc., now have been removed, and from all accounts he is quite chirpy.
Anne should be back soon from her big trip, can't wait to hear about her adventures!
Howard is busy with his new job & lining up some interesting guest speakers for us, watch this space.
On 10th October a Rotary Foundation dinner is being held at West's Mayfield, cost $75 per person. Gerry sent you details.
18th October Hunter Prostate Alliance (Procare) have asked for your support in cooking a BBQ at Newcastle Harbour Foreshore.  I did see 4 or 5 hands go up on Monday night plus myself, just waiting now on some more details. Will send out the usual event registrations by email & I will do the risk management & assessment for The District Insurance Officer.
On 25th October so far 16 members & partners are going to celebrate the day of festivities at Murrurundi, lots of stalls, model trains, exhibits, trip to Emirates horse stud etc., I still have a few seats left on the coach @ $50 per person if anyone else would like to join us. It promises to be great day out, isn't that what the members keep complaining about that we don't have enough of these? So think about it again, you can't complain if you don't come.
26th October Howard has lined up speakers from Calvary Mater Hospital to speak on breast cancer... it will be a ladies/partners night.
29th October is The Science & Engineering Challenge Dinner to be held at The Brennan Room, Newcastle University Campus, only $45 per head, so we need a good roll up to support this great cause. Email & invitation has been sent by Brian. Waratah have offered to help on this day & evening so put it into your diary.
30th October is Finals day of The Science & Engineering Challenge to be held at The Forum, Newcastle University Campus.  It will be terrific day of competition with the best national high schools competing for the grand prize.
Our Trivia night on the 6th November is the night to be ready for all to help out, bring friends to swell the numbers, from all reports donations are flowing in so we can look forward to a profitable night. Proceeds are going to Hunter Procare. If you can help Bob and his team please let him know.
13th November Cardiff Rotary will be celebrating it's 50th Anniversary, & we are changing our meeting night to attend this celebration. Grant would like numbers soon please.
More news as it comes to hand,
E. & O.E. (just for you Allan)
