Swimarathon Update

Event organizer Steve Cross presents a check to La Jolla Cove Swim Club leader Doug Burleigh. Proceeds from the annual Swimarathon went to support a cancer stricken marathon swimmer from La Jolla. Our ocean Swimarathon remains the first and only event of its type world wide. Cold swimmers received hot drinks, muffins and the ever popular hot towels warming participants. La Jolla Sunrise Rotary has participated in two Guinness Book of Records events since 2011 setting records for most swimmers in and hour and in a single day. Rough swimming conditions turned into gale force winds and torrential rain the day following the swim.
