SOLD OUT - Live Tuzday - Feb 5th - SOLD OUT Master Violinist and world famous Gypsy Jazz preservationist Tim Kliphuis, from Holland, will provide an evening of musical expertise that will amaze and entertain you. Any attempt to define the performance would miss the mark. He plays a broad range of styles and genres with exquisite mastery and must be seen to be believed. He will be accompanied by Alfonso Ponticelli on guitar. Tim is on a mini-tour of the US with Guitarist Alfonso Ponticelli of Chicago. Both musicians are world-class performers and we are very happy to offer Sun City West a night of top-notch musical entertainment. The matinee show will feature Alfonso Ponticelli playing Flamenco guitar. Alfonso has played for a crowd of 10,000 at Millennium Park on its opening night and is the recipient of the Leonardo da Vinci award for outstanding achievement in Performing Arts. His percussive style and finely detailed finger work will keep the audience spellbound. This event is co-hosted by several SCW Clubs: The Zymurgy Club, The Spanish Club, The Musician's Club, The Woodworker's Club and the Automobile Restoration Club. Members of each club purchased tickets at an affordable price to see some world class music. Combined, the clubs can afford to bring in talent from distant states - and countries - that we could never afford singly. Hosts: Jody Yeomans and Margaret Gibb Where: Palm Ridge Summit Rooms Matinee: 4 to 5pm The Zymurgy Club will be serving commercially made beer and wine at reasonable prices. Don lays down the bass foundation on his stand-up bass while Jody plays guitar and sings. Ellen brings her decades of professional violin to new levels of fiddle playin' fun. Mead Education Class Tuesday April 30 10:00AM – 12:00PM Randy Pace will discuss the origin and the process of mead making. There will also be samples of his meads available for tasting. (Another class will cover the process of making the mead) Mead is a beverage of love. The drinking of mead has been held responsible for fertility and the birth of sons. This is where the tradition of the honeymoon got its start. If mead were consumed for one month (one moon) after a wedding, then in nine months a son would be born and the mead maker congratulated. The custom of drinking mead at weddings and for one month after initiated our present-day custom of the honeymoon. Contact Randy Pace at rcpace@cox.net to register. Limited to 35 members. |

Arlyn Engel regrets not being able to play on this date. However, David Sheehy, an acoustic guitarist, will be performing! $5 at the door. Like a vintage wine, Sheehy's voice has grown sweeter with the passing years. This dynamic solo artist plays and sings classic acoustic music from the last five decades to present day, along with his own originals. Highlights of Sheehy's career have been opening for nationally known acts such as Hoyt Axton, Country Joe MacDonald, and Greg Kihn.
