Sugar Thieves Duo This dynamic duo has been together since 2006. There genre is - well, don't try to put them in a box! You might want to classify their music as "the blues," but, with Meridith Moore's deep and colorful vocals, and Mikel Lander's gritty and gutsy guitar picking style and vocal approach they cross many styles and genres - blues, country, folk, gospel, jazz and rock & roll - and must be heard to be appreciated. You WON'T want to miss this show! (you might have seen them at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix, the Scottsdale Arts Festival, the Crescent Ballroom or, with their 5 piece band, sharing the bill with Taj Mahal, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, The Flaming Lips, The Blues Brothers... you get it!) Hosts: Jody Yeomans and Margaret Gibb Location: The Zymurgy Club Cover Charge: $8 at the door You like variety - we like variety - let's do this!

Live Tuzday - May 1st, 2018 Join us for a special A round robin of entertainment from some of your favorite local musicians and Eric is two time champion of the Phoenix Blues Society's Blues Showdown and has twice performed in Memphis, TN at the International Blues Challenge, where he was a semi-finalist in 2017. He won the Stefan George Memorial Songwriting Contest at the Tucson Folk Festival in 2017, and has been tapped for the prestigious Songwriter's Showcase produced by Tempe Center for the Arts, filmed for PBS distribution. He's been a featured performer at the Prescott Center for the Arts, The Dripping Springs (TX) Songwriter's Festival and has headlined shows at the Highlands Center and the Flagstaff Folk Project in Arizona. Eric will be joined by Boomerang & the Sunsations band members Tim Polizzi and Martha Sargent introducing their own songwriting talents. The evening will be rounded out by your favorite front man, Jody Yeomans, as he sings a few of his original songs - some you may have heard before - and some you haven't. You'll hear a little about what inspires these songwriters, how they work, how they write and how they play. Each song has its own story, often providing insight into the song's message or the intent of the writer. Whether letting off steam, celebrating life and love or opening their hearts to the audience, these songwriters-musicians-singers entertain and please. Eric and Jody struck up a friendship at this year's Glendale Folk Festival and quickly agreed that Live Tuzday - and our audience - would benefit from an up close and personal Songwriter's Night. Martha and Jody have sung together as a Duo and Jody is in the Olde Folk band with Tim. This show promises to be an organic night of all-original music, laughter and friendship. Please join us.
Hosts: Jody Yeomans and Margaret Gibb Location: The Zymurgy Club Cover Charge: $5 at the door - members and their guest. This show will not be a "social" event, but rather a night of music. |
