One of Z Sunday Nights Listening Event Presenting Dave Mrocek With our busy active adult lifestyle, it's nice to have a comfortable evening out to relax and listen to some good music. Join fellow club members in this listening and sing-along event with entertainer and Zymurgy member Dave Mrocek.
When? Sunday, March 24
Where? Zymurgy Clubhouse
What time? Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Music begins at 6:00 p.m.
How much? $5 per person, members only, payable online or by check. No guests. Payment is due by March 17. If you give away or sell your spot, you must notify Judy Penman before noon on March 24 with the name of the person taking your place. If you pay by check, you must register online prior to dropping your check off in the Treasurer's box in the clubhouse. Please note your name and event on the envelope.
What else? Bring your rec card to scan in and bring snacks to share with your table.

Brewing Beer from a Kit Class Would you like to learn to make beer from a kit? This four-session course will teach you how to use the club's equipment to brew, chill, ferment, and bottle your beer. This is a hands-on course. Don Marshall and Jim Mudd will instruct, but you will do the brewing. Once complete, you will be able to make beer on your own!
Course breakdown:
Day 1 (3/26): Brew, chill, ferment - 3 hours
Day 2 (4/12) Rerack and bottle prep - 1 hour
Day 3 (4/19) Bottling - 2 hours
Day 4 (4/23) Tasting/judging - 1 hour
When? Tuesdays, March 26 and April 12, 19 and 23
Where? Zymurgy Clubhouse
What time? 9:00 a.m.
How much? $25 per person for the course, payable online or by check. Payment is due by March 19. If you pay by check, you must have registered prior to dropping off your payment in the Treasurer's box in the clubhouse. Payment alone does not guarantee your spot.
What else? Max of six students per class. The instructors will provide the beer kit, including bottles and caps.

Roast and Brew Coffee Classes Jake Kluch will be conducting Coffee Roast N Brew classes. Class One - "What Do You Like?" - Monday, April 1, noon to 4:00 p.m.
Introduction to coffee tasting and variables that affect how coffee tastes to you. Distribution of six bean type coffee sample packs. Overview of the whole program. Includes coffee sample packs.
Class Two - "From Green to Brown" - Wednesday, April 3, noon - 4:00 p.m.
From the cherry to the bean, this class follows coffee from its roots. Learn methods of roasting. What happens to the bean as temperature increases? When should you stop the roasting process? Learn other steps besides heating. You’ll roast some beans and learn how to store and use roasted beans.
Class Three - "Selecting and Buying Beans" - Thursday, April 4, noon - 4:00 p.m.
We’ll look at some places beans are grown, and why different locations have different flavors and characteristics. How are coffee “cherries” converted to green beans? Popular sources of beans, some new sources, how to choose.
Class Four - "Coffee: Not just for Brewing" - Friday, April 5, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Coffee pairing: accenting flavors of food and drink. Recipes – what else is coffee used to flavor? Course critique and future planning. Bring a dish to share from coffee recipes.
When? April 1, 3, 4 and 5
Where? Zymurgy Clubhouse
What time? First three classes are noon - 4:00 p.m. Last class is 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
How much? $50, payable on line or by check, for all four classes. Includes coffee beans. If paying by check, please ensure your payment of $50 per person is dropped in the Treasurer's box in the clubhouse no later than March 25.
What else? Limit of 8 students per class.

One of Z'ez Nights with Decades
Join us at Palm Ridge for a fun evening of dancing and socializing with Decades band! Decades play a great mix of 70s and 80s rock music.
When? Tuesday, April 2
Where? Palm Ridge Rec Center
What time? Doors open at 5:30. Music begins at 6:00 p.m.
How much? $10 per person, payable online or by check. Guests are welcome. Payment is due no later than March 26. If paying by check, please make your check out to SCW Zymurgy Club, noting your names and the event the check is for, and drop it in the Treasurer's box in the clubhouse. You must register online before paying by check.
What should I bring? Bring your rec card to scan in. BYOB and a snack to share with your table, if you so choose.
What else? If you give away or sell your spot to someone else, you MUST notify Judy Penman of the change prior to the event. The club will no longer allow anyone into an event who is not on the list of attendees. The name of the person receiving your ticket must be sent to Judy before noon on the day of the event.

No charge for members and guests, but you will be asked to bring wine for a blind wine tasting. What should I bring? Bring your rec card to scan in and snacks to share at your table. What else? After sign up is closed, you will receive an email in which you will be asked to bring a bottle of wine for a fun blind wine tasting. Susan Morigeau and Gina Graunke will be your hosts for this fun move and event.

April Fool Us Beer Tasting Event Three Irish Red Ales. Can you guess which is which? Two beers will be brewed at the club (one kit and one all grain) and one will be bought. Samples will be given and it's up to you to tell the difference! Will you be able to tell which is the kit, which is the all grain, and which is store bought? You might be fooled! When? Join fellow club members in this "listening" event with The Swingin' Gypsy Sisters, a guitar and violin-playing duo. Cheri Adams (guitar) and Ellen Zacko (violin) will entertain us with Gypsy swing, Latin jazz, Beatles, and other pop tunes.

Lecture 23 Becoming a Knowledgeable Wine Buyer

What time? Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
How much? $10 cash per person. Please make sure your payment to secure your seat is dropped off in the Wine Education Box on the club wall (NOT in the Treasurer's box) no later than April 15. You must regiter online before dropping off your payment. Payment without registering does not guarantee your spot in class.
What should I bring? Bring your rec card to scan in. Participants need to bring two wine glasses: a large burgundy's wine glass and a smaller pinot noir wine glass.
What else? Seating is limited. One participant will be purchasing the wines and the money collected will reimburse for these wines.
