This week with SD Coastal...
Please join us at 6:00pm this Wednesday at Leucadia Pizza for our regular club meeting. There will be food, drinks, and you'll hear about upcoming events and service opportunities.

At age 3 Emilio was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), his parents Richard and Diane felt their world turned upside down cycling through emotions including fear, promise, desperation, and hope.  After a hard battle Richard and Diane honored his memory by creating the Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) to help low-income underserved families meet basic needs, especially transportation. For over 15 years Emilio’s spirit can be felt in the hundreds of young patients ENF helps annually — laughter in the van, a comforting hand during hard times at the hospital, and the smiling eyes of our families. He looks after us all.  The Emilio Nares Foundation offers highlighted programs which includes Ride with Emilio, Emilio Snack bags, Family Support Programs, Loving Tabs shirts, and End of Life Program. They have expanded into Imperial Valley, Orange County, and soon to be in LA. Since then Richard Nares was honored as a CNN Hero!

SD Coastal Rotary is family-friendly and kids are always welcome. Guests can let us know if they'll be attending through RSVP on Facebook.

Questions or want to add something to the agenda? Reach out to Jessica Long, Club President.

2019 District Training Assembly March 30
The 2019 District Training Assembly is March 30, 2019. We need two of our next rotary year's Rotary board members to sign up to be qualified to apply for District grants. Qualifictaion is decided if we attend the District Grant and GlobalGrant training sessions.

One person signed up, so one more person needs to sign up!

Held only once a year, District Training Assembly offers training for Rotarians including club officers, directors, and committee chairs to help them become more effective club leaders. All club members, especially Red Badgers, are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Come learn club management tips and best practices from other Rotarians at District Training on March 30, 2019 at the Joan Kroc Center for Peace & Justice on the USD campus. Online registration is $30 per person. This is a great opportunity to learn about Rotary and network with other Rotarians. We expect full attendance for each class, so don't miss out. Registration ends on March 29, 2019.

The SDSU Roteract Group came to our January 9 meeting, and told us about their mentor program. The mentorship program is designed to match Rotaract students from a wide variety of majors and career pursuits to someone in a similar field in Rotary. These students are looking for guidance on internships, career advice and planning, networking, resume building, and how to incorporate service and Rotary into their life. The time commitment is just 2 hrs a month and this program has the power to change lives!
