Club Meeting at Leucadia Pizza

Please join us at 6:00pm this Wednesday at Leucadia Pizza for our regular club meeting. There will be food, drinks, and you'll hear about upcoming events and service opportunities. Our speaker this week will be Mr. Eric Lovett from Urban Street Angels Inc. + 8 West. Urban Street Angels serves the San Diego homeless community with ongoing efforts that help build inroads to better reach and work with the growing homeless youth population. 8 West is a revolutionary social enterprise start-up that employs formerly homeless youth, provides transitional housing and support and produces artisan soap to help fund the program and raise awareness. Eric will be joined by some of the youth in the 8 West program who will be selling their soaps at our meeting - so come ready to support!

SD Coastal Rotary is family-friendly and kids are always welcome. Guests can let us know if they'll be attending through RSVP on Facebook.

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED - Orphanage Beautification in Valle de Guadelupe

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED for our next trip to Valle de Guadalupe for orphanage beautification on Saturday August 26 - Sunday August 27. We will be working at a smaller, all boys orphanage to help them paint several structures, repair some stairs, do some fun art projects with the kids and feed them a great lunch. The format will be similar to previous trips, leaving Saturday morning at 7am and coming back Sunday afternoon around 5pm. We will be working in the Valle at the orphanage during the day then having a dinner in a nearby restaurant (La Esperanza). We plan on staying in Ensenada at the Cortez Hotel and going out on the town in Ensenada (yes, we will find a place that's got the fight on TV). If you did not register to attend this time, please feel free to still support the trip by donating at our next meeting. If you have any questions please contact Tom at service@sdcoastalrotary.org.

Paddle Board Fundraiser Back on For August 30th!

The Paddleboard fundraiser is now back on for August 30th! It'll go from 5:45 - 7:30pm, and after we'll head to Guava Beach Bar for food and drinks. We will be meeting in the grassy area next to the bay at 3701 Bayside Walk, SD 92109. Allan will have the boards ready for us at the beach.

The normal going rate for paddleboarding is $55/lesson, but thanks to the generosity of Surfari Surf School you can experience it for only $25! Even better is knowing your money is going to a good cause, as proceeds from the event will benefit Urban Street Angels.

First time paddleboarding? No worries, we'll have people there to conduct a short lesson and help you get on a board and paddle away in no time! Everyone is welcome so please share this event with your family and friends!

Do you want to add content to the newsletter? You'll make the newsletter editor's life easier by creating a "story" first. Events do not appear in the newsletter as content but rather small bullet points on the right side, so to truly get the heart of your message out you must create a "story" via the clubrunner website. How do you create a story? Log in to the clubrunner website and click "edit stories"

Then, click "create new story", give it a title, and add ALL photos and copy to the first print area called "story brief". To finish hit publish. Just like that, you've created content that can easily be dropped into the next newsletter like this story you just read!
