September's Rotarian of the Month: Carlos Nava. If you know Carlos Nava, you know he is a man of his word, has an amazing attention to detail, and is an expert in his field in the hospitality industry. When it comes to events, few are as skilled at quality control as “Don Carlos,” as he is affectionately known. The Hilton executive is a driving force behind the success of our fundraising events, taking ownership of securing donations of sushi, pastries and other delicious treats. These are among the reasons Don Carlos was selected as Rotarian of the Month for September. Thank you, Don Carlos, for your service to our club. We appreciate all you do!

Members of the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake will be mulching, weeding and setting up hay bales at Otay Elementary's community garden on Saturday April 27, 2019 as part of a day of work for Rotarians throughout the world. The day, called Rotarians at Work Day, has been set aside in 26 Districts on three continents for all Rotary Clubs to be working in service of their home communities.
A student ensemble from Guitars in the Classroom promises to pluck on heart strings as well as musical instruments. The ensemble reflects both the spirit of public education as well as the importance of Visual and Performing Arts for all students, including those with Special Needs. The ensemble is one of several featured performance groups at the second Hearts for Arts event on from 1- 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 hosted by the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake. Our service club awarded a $2,500 grant to the Chula Vista Elementary School District to support arts education. Come join the celebration!
Although we have had to postpone the Mar y Vino bay cruise because of inclement weather, a lot of great planning occurred that will help our club with future events. We now have the following project leads:
Beverage Chair: Mauricio Torres
Decorations Chair: Tonie Andrade
Food Chair: Carlos Nava
Volunteer Chair: Anthony Millican
This structure will help us carry out tasks in a more organized and efficient manner. Let us know if you would like to lead our other chair positions, such as Music/Entertainment or Budget.
