The South Bay Pumpkin Smash Game of Throws is an event where teams of students, grades 3 - 12, participate to win honor and prizes by hurtling leftover Halloween pumpkins with both accuracy and distance. They utilize both school and homemade Medieval-style technology. Our club is a sponsor of the event. Join us October 29 for food and fellowship at 6:30 p.m., and help us plan for our part of the Game of Throws (which takes place November 2). Please note that our venue has changed. We are now meeting at the Brew Bar, 277 Third Avenue, Chula Vista, 91910. |

Our Board meeting will take place at Unisushi to support one of our longtime partner and event sponsor. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. with fellowship, then at 7 p.m. we convene as the Chula Vista Sunset Rotary Foundation with its own meeting agenda. After foundation business, we transition to our Rotary Club of Chula Vista Eastlake business meeting. All members are welcome to attend.

How can our Rotary Club help families in need? We need volunteers for two separate dates: · Sunday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for food sorting and packing. Come by for at least an hour. · Tuesday, December 17 at Santa’s Shop. Come by any time between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help families pick out and wrap toys at the Santa’s Shop distribution event. The location for the volunteer opportunities is: Food Packing is at 650 L Street, Chula Vista Santa Shop is at 680 L Street, Chula Vista Same side of the street, but two buildings apart from each other |

We will also plan and finalize details for our Holiday Party this Sunday, December 15. The Citizen’s Academy provides a unique opportunity to learn from our employees about the daily responsibilities involved in keeping our community safe. Participants are introduced to employees, officers, detectives and others to learn about their jobs. Learn more about the Chula Vista Police Department and understand the value and importance of the community/police partnership we share. |

Join us for food and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Our program will begin at 7 p.m. Guest Speaker is Bob Chalfa from Thousand Smiles Foundation. Thousand Smiles, a 501(c)3 foundation, provides free maxillofacial surgery, dental treatment as well as, various associated procedures to children from financially challenged families in Mexico. This project is totally funded by donations including but not limited to Rotary International Grants, Other foundation grants, Rotary Club donations, and personal donations. The project is completely managed and run by volunteers. Our club will participate in the Thousand Smiles clinic in Ensenada on February 7-8. Come learn more about Thousand Smiles, and our club's service opportunity in February. |

The "Hospitality Night" will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the home of Cheryl Shields, located at 809 Middle Fork Place, Chula Vista, 91914. District Governors Elect will be available for pickup at 5:30 pm in the Manchester Hyatt Hotel lobby. Please RSVP by registering asap. We need to provide a headcount for our caterer as well as our host. |

The CalSavers Retirement Savings Program first launched November 2018 with a pilot program and to all eligible employers beginning July 1, 2019. CalSavers provides employees access to a retirement savings program without the administrative complexity, fees, or fiduciary liability of existing options for employers. Any employer with at least five employees that doesn’t already offer a workplace retirement savings vehicle will be required to either begin offering one via the private market or provide their employees access to CalSavers. |
