It is my honor to serve as the President of the Rotary Club of Bonsall for the 2018-2019 year!   While I have only been involved in Rotary for a few years, my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.   Our Bonsall club may be small, but what we lack in numbers we make up for in enthusiasm and dedication.   We are small but mighty!
This year I have a couple of focus areas:
  • Interactions with neighboring clubs – As a smaller club, we sometimes do not have the capacity to take on certain projects.  To help in this regard I have been meeting with the Presidents of both Fallbrook clubs and the Valley Center club so that we can join forces on projects and expand the reach of our resources.   We will hold several joint social meetings this year in order to get to know each other and figure out the best ways to work together.  Our first meeting was in July and we are now planning the next two.   Stay tuned!
  • Increased International Projects – this year we already have two international projects – one for a well at a school in Uganda and the other for home building in Mexico.   Both of these projects were awarded District Grants and involve integration with neighboring clubs.   The project in Mexico is being done in conjunction with the two Fallbrook clubs and the well project is being done in partnership with a club in Yorba Linda.
  • Revitalizing the Wine Brews and Blues Festival – now nearing the quarter century mark, this festival is our main fundraiser.   Holding it at the California Center for the Arts is fantastic – but expensive.   This year we are looking to explore new options so that we can have the same great event, but with a lower overhead cost so more of the funds raised can benefit local and international needs.
  • Club Growth – all Rotary Presidents are charged with ensuring club growth and we are no different.  We do have a great opportunity with new neighborhoods being constructed in our area to attract new members.   We will be holding a number of outreach events for our new neighbors!
If you are interested in Service Above Self and want to meet some fantastic people who share this interest, come join us at our weekly breakfast meeting!   We hold our meetings at the Pala Mesa Resort at 7:30 AM every Thursday.   You are welcome to come visit us as our guest – we will buy you breakfast!   We have great speakers each week and work hard to provide needed support to a wide variety of local charities in addition to our international work.   I am confident that once you come for a visit you will want to come back!
See you there!
