Officers of The Rotary Club of Bonsall present a donation to the Fallbrook Food Pantry. Treasurer Denise Wilson and Community Service Director Karen Estes hand off a $250 check to Carolina Miller to support the Adopt-A-Family drive in Fallbrook. The donation will be used to buy food and clothes for needy families to boost their enjoyment of Christmas in these difficult times. The Bonsall Rotary Club continues to serve the community through service and donations even though meeting in person isn't currently possible. “We also have occasional meetings online so that our members can stay in touch,” says Jeff Johnson, president of the club.

Letter from Bonsall Rotary President Nancy Dunlap

Rotary Club of Bonsall
President’s Letter

November is Rotary Foundation Month.   What better way is there to fulfill our motto, “Service Above Self” than to participate in the Rotary Foundation Programs.

There are six main areas of focus in the Rotary Foundation:  Peace and Conflict Resolution, Disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.

Our Rotary District is the #1 District in the world in contributions to Polio Plus with a goal to eradicate polio in the world by 2018.   Did you know that the clubs in our district sponsored or participated in Rotary Grants totaling over $984,000 last year?  The countries served included Guatemala, Ecuador, Jamaica, Turkey, India, Kenya, South Africa, Holland, Mexico, Brazil, El Salvador, Philippines, Uganda, Honduras, and the USA.

Recently, our club participated in a district grant to help support a medical student from Afghanistan who is currently studying in India.   A few of our members were able to hear about his challenging experiences in continuing his medical education through a joint Skype last month with the Rotary Club of Vista and the E-Club.

For those members who do not have the time or inclination to do hands-on projects, the Rotary Foundation needs your financial support.     Our goal is EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) which means that every Bonsall Rotarian give some financial donation every year.    Most members are participating in a monthly pledge of $10 or more per month.   In today’s world, $10 does not buy much in the USA (maybe a glass of wine); however, it can help support the programs of Rotary.

 Thank you for your participation.

Yours in Service,
Nancy Dunlap
