Burning Man Temple Builder - Steel Fabrication Artist

David Best is an internationally acclaimed artist well known for building large elaborate temples, modifying and decorating automobiles and buses, and creating intricate sculptures out of found materials. David’s art career started at the age of 6 years old taking classes at the San Francisco Art Institute where he later received a master’s degree in sculpture. David’s work is collected by preeminent museums and art collectors. He is a contemporary of California artists William Wiley, Al Farrow and Rick Griffin, but has also collaborated with people who are merely interested in working with him on his projects. Since the beginning of this millennium, David and the Temple Crewhave become revered for their work at the Burning Man Festival held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Similar works have now been replicated in communities from Nepal to Ireland, and with other international locations on the horizon. David works out of Petaluma in Sonoma County California where he resides with wife Maggie and a bevy of farm animals, trucks, and an assortment of mutant vehicles. |

Bob Hendry retired from General Motors Corporation in 2001 after 37 years of service as a Group Vice President. During his career he has worked and lived all over the world – USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, Africa and other parts of Asia. He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Michigan State University. His major was in Organizational Development – a discipline which focuses on business through the eyes of human nature. His undergraduate degree was also in Business with minors in economics and theology as it was a Jesuit University. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in a family of 6 in which he was the youngest. As his mother’s grandparents were immigrants to the US, many forms of English were spoken in his family. Michael Caruana was a classmate of his from grade school through high school, both excelling in math. Our childhood friendship was renewed when we found we both lived now in California. Bob’s presentation is entitled Perspectives – Automotive Cultures and Human Nature. |

In 1927 the Herzog family did a two-day cattle drive with horses to move a large herd from their dairy operation in San Anselmo to their new Lakeville property. A year later construction was completed on a new state-of-the-art dairy called Sleepy Hollow. Over the decades the Herzog family went on to achieve international acclaim as Holstein cattle breeders. |

He now writes a once a week sports column for the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. In November he had a five week run for his one-man show at The Marsh Theater in San Francisco. |

Peter Phillips is a Professor of Political Sociology at Sonoma State University since 1994, former Director of Project Censored 1996 to 2010 and President of Media Freedom Foundation 2003 to 2017. He has been editor or co-editor of fourteen editions of Censored, co-editor with Dennis Loo of Impeach the President: The Case Against Bush and Cheney 2006, editor of two editions of Progressive Guide to Alternative Media and Activism 1999 & 2004. His most recent book is Giants: The Global Power Elite from Seven Stories Press August 2018. He was a co-host of the weekly Project Censored show on Pacifica Radio with Mickey Huff 2010 to 2017 originating from KPFA in Berkeley and airing on forty stations nationwide. He teaches courses in Political Sociology, Sociology of Power, Sociological of Media, Sociology of Conspiracies and Investigative Sociology. He was winner of the Firecracker Alternative Book Award in 1997 for Best Political Book, PEN Censorship Award 2008, Dallas Smythe Award from the Union for Democratic Communications 2009, and the Pillar Human Rights Award from the National Associations of Whistleblowers 2014. He lives in a redwood forest near Bodega California with his wife Mary Lia. |

Kevin grew up in Petaluma, California. He studied business and art at Sonoma State University. He tried his hand at sales in the family business for a few years but art was always his passion so for the last 20 years Kevin has been designing and building restaurants and bars in the Bay Area. Kevin also builds large scale interactive sculptures for Burning Man and other music festivals. His pieces evoke a sense of awe and wonder due to their size and beauty. Most of his sculptures incorporate the element of fire in them. In addition to the restaurants and bars Kevin has designed and built, he also owns three full-service hair salons with his brother which he designed and built. His artwork can be seen throughout these salons. Kevin loves creating spaces where people can hang out and interact with his art. |

John Antonio was named head coach of Casa Grande Varsity Football in 2019. The position is a perfect fit for Antonio, who is a Petaluma Police Officer assigned to Casa Grande High School as a school resource officer. He has built up the trust of players and school administration as both a police officer and coach. He was an assistant for current St. Vincent head coach Trent Herzog at Casa Grande and for former head coach Gary Galloway at St. Vincent. He was also head coach at Piner High School in Santa Rosa, where he took a team that hadn’t won more than two games in a season in a decade and led it into the North Coast Section playoffs in just three years. Ricky Krist, a former three-sport athlete at Petaluma High School, has been teaching in the Petaluma School District for 30 years, beginning at Petaluma Junior High School in 1989 and moving to the high school in 1993. An integral part of PHS' football program for over 30 years, Ricky has been head football coach since 2000. Trent Herzog, St. Vincent High School's new head football coach is well known in local high school sports. Formerly head coach at Casa Grande High School., Trent brings n extensive background in supporting you athletes on the field and in the classroom. |

Self-employed for over 40 years, Jeff has been in real estate finance for the last 33 years, with an office on the downtown waterfront. Jeff has served on several non-profit boards in Petaluma, but was most involved with the Petaluma Downtown Association from 2002 until 2014. Jeff is also a member of the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary Club. Today, besides concentrating on his family and business, Jeff is focused on a sustainable plan to finance the regular dredging of the Petaluma River. |
