The State of the Department
Oct 04, 2018
“Chief Thompson retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 2010, following a 35-year career with that organization that saw him advance from the position of Firefighter in 1975, through the ranks including Captain and Battalion Chief, to the Chief Deputy position, which is 2nd in command. Chief Thompson possesses both broad and specialized experience in field operations, and in management, as well as experience as Chief Deputy commanding Emergency Operations. Chief Thompson has been a resident of San Rafael since 2010 and serves as a member of that City’s Fire Commission where he’s fortunate to provide volunteer support and mentoring to the personnel of that Department. He was appointed Interim Fire Chief for Petaluma in April, 2015 and was later sworn in as the permanent Fire Chief in September, 2015. Chief Thompson also proudly serves as the Fire Chief for the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District through a Shared Services Agreement and has held that position since March of 2017.” |

Two and a half years ago, when Barb Spangler learned that she would be District Governor in 2018-2019, she took a deep breath and made Rotary District 5130 a top priority in her life. After many informal club visits and participating in a number of great club projects, Barb has come to love our District and describes the DG experience as the best job ever. According to Barb, “It’s a brilliant opportunity to be with and work with Rotarians: Good people at their very best.”
Be sure to attend and find out more about Barb and her 2018-2019 the District 5130 goals! See you there.
