President George chaired todays’ meeting. He welcomed all attendees, both in person and via Zoom and opened the formal meeting with the treaty recognition.
O Canada was led by Allan Hillson (Eastview Club) and the blessing was by Al Goudie.
2.Speaker Name & Presentation:
Today’s speaker was James Bogusz, CEO, Regina Airport Authority. James was accompanied by Kyla Antonini, Communications and Customer Experience Administrator.
James’s presentation was very interesting and informative. Topics covered:
YQR Overview: YQR is a not-for-profit company established in 1999, with an 80-year lease to operate the airport property. It serves an encatchment population of over 500,000 residents from all across southern Saskatchewan. YQR is the 16th busiest airport in Canada. Volumes are back over July 2019 pre-covid levels.
Strategic Plan: YQR’s vision is to be Saskatchewan’s best airport experience and its mission is to be an engine of economic activity and social connectivity through air travel. To achieve this, they have upgraded food services both pre and post security, upgraded the viewing area, installed new screens and the public address system, and now have St John’s Ambulance comfort dogs.
Air Service Development: YQR is increasing capacity with Air Canada and adding summer services to Montreal and Kelowna. The implementation of direct flights to/from Minneapolis (which gives connections to all Delta destinations in the US) and the recently announced “ultra basic fee” by Westjet. Confirmation with Westjet for direct winter flights to Las Vegas, Orlando, and Phoenix and discussions with Porter airlines possibly including Regina in their plans.
Recent Projects: YQR has recently completed several projects including a runway project, updated kiosks, a new website, an Indigenous market, and a new visitors Kiosk in conjunction with Tourism Regina.
Environmental Goals: YQR has a goal to reduce GHG emissions 30% below 2016 baseline levels by 2030 and has already achieved a 30.5% reduction.

President George acknowledged the passing of Honourary Member Doug Cunnington and asked for a moment of silence in remembrance.

Soul’s Harbour need coffee cups. President George made an appeal and passed the hat for donations. THANKS to everyone who ponied up!
George has tickets for the Red Sox game on Wednesday July 10th. Cost $18.
