Club Meeting Report July 6th, 2026.
In-person, Delta Hotel, 12:00 Noon
1. Meeting Chair:
President Russ opened the meeting by welcoming all club members, the members of the Eastview Club who joined us today, and guests. (Apologies to those trying to join us via Zoom. A technical glitch got in the way.)
President Russ then provided our land treaty recognition.
O Canada was led by Gilda Treleaven-Gaham, followed by the blessing by Carole Bryant.
2. Speaker Name & Presentation:
President Russ introduced todays’ speaker Chad Jedlic, Director Land, Real Estate and Economic Development City of Regina. Chad is responsible for Strategic Land Management: Overseeing the development and disposition of city-owned properties and leading major projects such as the redevelopment of The Yards (former railyard site) and the Taylor Field property.
Chad also leads Economic Growth in Regina: Focusing on strategic infrastructure investment, sustainable economic development, and business opportunities within Regina.
Chad is also active in rowing and is the driving force behind the Regina Rowing Club. It is through rowing that Chad and Russ became good friends.
Chad covered many things going on in the city. He advised the city owns some land for future development. He works with city council on a strategy for future planning. One development discussed was the Towns project in east Regina. It encompasses 134 acres presently under development which will generate some $24.6 M profit to the city. The second phase of this project encompasses 122 acres with production slated for 2032. He reviewed the big picture going forward for the Taylor field yards, the center of which is the new indoor aquatic facility - a massive investment and centre piece for the future development in this area of the city. This includes reconfiguring 10th Avenue and a planned park He reviewed the improvement to Dewdney avenue - necessary to install adequate water and waste water systems to accommodate future development in the “Yards” a 17-acre site on Dewdney. They have issued a request for proposals for feedback on how this area could best be improved. The original plans do not fit into present market conditions. The REAL District was basically insolvent and funds being injected by the City for the last two years barely kept it alive and were not going toward the substantial deficit in building maintenance which had not been kept current. A number of the buildings were at the end of their lives. A very complex situation having a negative impact on the city. They were thankful for an unsolicited offer from the Brandt company which, after consideration by city council, was accepted. This calls for redevelopment of many buildings and, as announced recently, the construction of a new larger facility to accommodate the livestock for the annual Western Agricultural Exhibition. All in all a step in the right direction.
Chad answered a number of questions and was properly thanked by President Russ.
New member induction
We had the pleasure of inducing a new member- Anthony Byamukama, sponsored by Adewale Adeyemo.
Anthony Byamukama is the Fundraising and Development Officer at Souls Harbour. He brings more than ten years of experience in fundraising, grant management, proposal development, program management, donor relations, and non-profit leadership, having worked with organizations in both Canada and Uganda.
Over the course of his career, Anthony has successfully secured and managed more than $1 million in grant funding. His work has supported initiatives focused on child protection, refugee support, violence prevention, water and sanitation, and community development, benefiting thousands of vulnerable individuals and families.
Anthony holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Makerere University in Kampala Uganda. Anthony is currently pursuing the Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation and is a professional member of the Institute of Public Administrators of Canada.
Passionate about service and community impact, Anthony is committed to building meaningful partnerships and helping organizations create positive and lasting change. He is looking forward to working in our club.
President Russ presented Anthony with a welcoming package which includes basic information about Rotary, a name tag and his Rotary pin. The pin is a symbol of adherence to ethical business practice, your commitment to service above self, and your involvement in a service organization leading with positive change in the world every day.

Changeover Ceremony.
With the start of a new Rotary year today was the induction of a new slate of Officers and Directors. The ceremony was conducted by Assistant District Governor- Lorne Calvert. Lorne brought greetings from our District Governor - Warren Thompson and emphasized the meaning of Service Above Self when we often forget there is a person helped although we may never meet or see this individual.
Lorne introduced our new club executive for 2026/27:
President - Russel Hart; Past-President - George Carson; New Director and Treasurer - Jill Watson-Ruiters; Past Treasurer and now assistant Treasurer - Katherine Bergman; Chair of Public Image Committee - Adewale Adeyemo; Chair of the Foundation Committee - Ian Yeates.
Unable to attend today’s induction was Al Goudie - Secretary and Chair of the Administration Committee and acting Chair of the Membership Committee.
ADG Lorne stated “Serving on the club executive has its own rewards but does require some time and commitment. It is my pleasure to recognize a faithful member of the club executive for many years -Joanna Alexander, who is stepping off the board. Joanna, I have been asked by your club to thank you for your dedication to the club as a director for many years. Your diligence has continued despite, over recent years, health challenges that have made your work challenging. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Regina - Thankyou.”
President Russ thanked ADG Lorne for conducting the induction and added his thankyou to Joanna for her diligent work on the board over many years.
3. Birthday and Anniversaries:
Birthdays: Bob Terichow - July 4th; Doug Keam - July 25th; Olasinde Ben Adebayo - July 30th.
Anniversaries: Russel Hart - 26 years; Ernie Richardson - 39 years; Stewart Graham - 45 years.
4. Reports and Announcements:
- SERVICE ABOVE SELF - Community Service at Soul’s Harbour on July 16th. 4:00 - 6:00 pm. We serve meals and coffee, pickup dirty dishes and put away the tables. A chance to give a hands-up to those in need. This is the same evening as the Eastview Changeover dinner so please make an effort to help out. Our next date is August 20th. Mark your calendar.
- AI on the Prairies held June 11th was a resounding success. 99 attendees. Presentations well received. Financially beyond breakeven. A hugh THANK-YOU to the committee. Adewale Adeyemo, Joanna Alexander, Deepak Gupta and, from Eastview Club, President Jayna Amadasum, Doreen Pankewich and Jeanne Alexander.
- The annual Lyle Piett Memorial Golf Tournament happened on July 3rd- Tor Hill. Thanks to John VanKoll and his committee for all their work. The rain held off until golf was over!
- Adventures in Agriculture rapidly approaching. Our club representatives are: PP George Carson, Ian Toms and Katherine Bergman.
- Pancake Breakfast - July 29 is the annual Pancake Breakfast. More volunteers are needed. Time is 4:30 am to 9:00 am. This is an interesting experience and great fellowship. You will not only enjoy breakfast but will have the opportunity to meet the Police and Fire Chiefs. Initiated many years ago by the Industrial Parks Club. Let’s keep it going. Try it - you will enjoy it.
- Regina Red Sox game - Wednesday July 15th, 7:00 PM Currie Field. Come out and watch the Red Sox play the Brooks Bombers. Tickets $23.50. Pay George Carson. If you plan to attend let George know at: carson@sasktel.net
5. Other Newsworthy Items:
President Russ said: “Thanks to Stewart Graham for organizing today’s meeting and for again acting as the club reporter, Ian Toms for setup and take down, Doreen Pankewich of Eastview Club for reception/attendance, Gilda Treleaven-Graham for leading us in O Canada, Carole Bryant for the Blessing, and George Carson for conducting the 50/50 and Doug Keam for the Four-Way Test.
The 50/50 pot was $162.50. No winner.
