The Rotary Club of Regina is being honored with a District Literacy Award for 2021-2022 in recognition of our club’s contribution to literacy both locally and internationally. Our club will be acknowledged at the District (online) Convention in May.
Rotary Club of Regina members volunteered as one-to-one reading guides in partnership with United Way Regina and 6 community schools implementing the Vello program. (This was the first time Vello was offered in Canada.) Volunteers spent 30 minutes, twice a week reading to students in Grade 1 - 3 via shared screen technology. Volunteers connected via desktop, tablet or even their cell phone from the convenience of their office or home.

Additionally, the Club received one of two special Covid Response Awards for innovation in literacy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
