Constable Pascal Chagnon, Regina Police Service (RPS) presented on protecting yourself from scams & frauds.
He reviewed several common frauds and scams, including grandparent scams (with the use of voice cloning), QR code scams (fake sticker over original code), Microsoft scams, and the CRA scam.
He provided a number of tips to protect yourself, including creating a unique family password, not clicking CRA links, using a safe transaction zone (in front of RPS station), and just slowing things down.
He suggested that payments by credit cards are safter than debit cards as the credit card companies have built in security features.
