Ana Ribiero was our Rotary Exchange student this past year from Brazil. Her year in Canada included seeing polar bears in Churchill, learning to ski, horseback riding, riding a bicycle 40 km from Canmore to Banff (which she said was hard) and seeing much of Western Canada.
She travelled on Rotary orientations and events to Neepawa, Melfort, The Pas, Russell and Winnipeg. Along with other exchange students, she performed at the District Conference in Winnipeg. The students’ Western trip in June took her to Weyburn, Moose Jaw, Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Canmore (where she met Olympian Becky Scott), Banff, Lake Louse and the West Edmonton Mall. Her final Rotary event just before leaving Regina was attending Camp Whitney for RYLA. (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). RYLA is Rotary’s leadership training and personal development program for young people between the ages of 13-30.
Ana spent most of her year with hosts Wayne Wenaus and Susan Chow who treated her like family taking her to Alberta for a holiday.
Thank you to her host family (Wayne and Susan) and Student Exchange Councellor Rotarian Kay Doxilly for making Ana’s year wonderful.
